Also, disclaimer, I am not a musician so my music is shit if you bother to click to my soundcloud haha.

I truly believe this album to be a work of art. It takes something really special to turn "easy listening" music into something genuinely sad and unsettling.

I think the ambience and feel of this song is fairly creepy. Not neccisarily dark. It's an instrumental.

Ever heard of Gorgoroth?

>Gorgoroth
Literally babby's first edgy metal
Try Deathspell Omega, Regarde Les Hommes Tomber, Moonsorrow, Arduinna, Chimaira, Show Me A Dinosaur, Drudkh or hundreds of good bands
They're all /x/ related and better than Gorg
I'll grant you that they're absolute madmen and very much involved in satanism, but they're still tryhard faggots and the music is nothing but a slurry of badly composed noise and uneducated grumbling
>>
>>17988849
Pentagram and Antichrist are classic second-wave and as good as any black metal I've heard. Granted, the song he posted wasn't from either of them, but I don't think they're any more entry level than certainly Drudkh or Deathspell Omega, both of which I've seen attacked for being essentially too popular.
>>
>>17987676
>Gorillaz
Some of their music and visuals are vaguely spooky - the artist behind them is a huge horror movie fan and almost constantly references them in his art.

I don't think the music could be called overtly 'scary' though

I might have a strong personal bias against Gorgoroth, simply because I don't like their sound and I always see them cited as ''best evar'', even though they're pretty average
That being said, I'm away from my home and phoneposting and thus can't provide all the links I'd like to post, but I'll try and suggest some /x/ music according to themes and moods

Let's start with deep space, the anguish of the black void and futuristic spookies. OGRE absolutely blew me away, whether with his albums 194, 195 or Calico Brawn. It's synthwave, but while most artists of the genre have a very directional and narrative approach, OGRE goes the way of the spooky, dissonant, ambient sound that makes you feel more like you're lost and drifting through uncertainty than soaring through the skies. Interesting use of subtle breaks and modulations that creates hypnosis and uneasiness. One of my personal faves.

Same theme, equivalent quality:
A.n.K.h.
I will try and provide a link for this one at some point but you might want to check Jamendo for his work (was free, probably still is)
This is ambient noise, makes heavy use of sampling and mechanical sounds. At first it sounded to me like utter bullshit but the longer you dive into the albums, the more you start to hear and feel the patterns and even though this isn't the most accessible, it is just right for certain moods and might just have you looking over your shoulder from time to time. Just to be sure if ''that'' sound really was just in the music...

This guy does some neat dark ambient mixes. Not all are scary per se, but definitely eerie and evocative. The dark ritual mixes might be more toward /x/'s mood.

Herbst9 makes some spoopy stuff.

There's also dark ambient radio.

I guess everyone knows about Perturbator by now, but he's still worth mentioning. Amazing synthwave, very dark and heavy, horror inspired narratives and themes, dystopian future and transhumanism translate excellently into his sound. Very busy and crushing at times, more intimistic at others, but there's still this sense of dread that permeates his sound.
His fame is deserved imo, bu there's a few others that can hold up to him, notably, MOON, with his hysterical, fast-paced and aggressive sound (a few tracks of his are on the Hotline Miami games OSTs, along with Perturbator and many others who all deserve some attention). If Perturbator is a droning serial killer, Moon is a gleeful spree murderer.

Esoteric/neo-medieval
The Greatest Of All Time: Dead Can Dance
Even though they are half australian, there's no shitposting involved. Once again I am biased, but it's simply the best. Each album has a distinctive concept and style, ranging from tribal neo-folk to esoteric medieval canticles. Impressive vocalists, intelligent use of a wide array of instruments and a decidedly spooky feel, with references to magic, theology, etc ...

Daemonia Nymphe is an outfit inspired by ancient Greece and they do sing in greek and compose according to antic norms. Their sound is ritual and ethereal, backed up with top-notch chanting. It creates a doomful atmosphere that pervades the air and evokes images of Pan and Dyonisos, mad celebrations and the smell of snuffed out candles. Very ''specialised'' when it comes to themes, but undoubtedly of great quality.
