/sci/ is probably more appropriate, unless you plan on looking for UFOs or something similar.
But in OPs defense, it is a good idea for people who do things like sky watching to be familiar with basic astronomy to help eliminate false positives and natural phenomenon. So this could be regarded as /x/ related.
