They're real, at least to the person creating then, but they don't get out of hand. You literally have complete creative control of them, and at the end of the day you have control over them. I've had a tulpa for almost two years. It's not schizophrenia, because there's no disorder going on. It honestly doesn't even take that much work. About a half hour twice a day every day for a few weeks and you'll have results. The stories are just that: stories. The out of control tulpas you read about simply don't exist. In all I'd the communities I've been apart of, I have yet to see it happen.

I've had a Tulpa for almost 4 years now. It's legit, no schizo shit either.
Getting into tulpas is quite possibly the best decision I ever made.
