What is hell like? I have a theory, but I hesitate to say what it is. I'd like to know if anyone thinks the same think that I do.

In "Wristcutters: A Love Story" I kinda liked how purgatory was basically the same as life, but slightly worse. Nothing horrible but stuff like the tempature was never right, you had to have a job which kinda sucked, everything was kinda dirty but not filthy. Just a slightly shittier existence.

For anyone who thinks we're in Hell now & don't know it, how cool is it that we get wifi?

I went to a catholic school and had a very "woke" (so to speak) religion teacher. He wouldn't just spew out the normal religious bullshit. He would break down the bible and tell us what things really meant, not just what it said literally. I really found it interesting. Anyway, he told us that hell isn't just fire and torture and all that, but just the absence of God. Which is enough to feel like torture. I'm not religious though so take that as you will.
>>
>>17912783
Agree with the first part of this guys comment.... Not being able to die, repeating life over and over again..... Limbo, stuck on replay for eternity... Wondering aimlessly through a deep dark void of blackness.

>>
>>17912788

>>
>>17912738
It's very cold, and dark. People scurry among unnamed ruins like rats looking for food and shelter. You constantly feel hungry, your body aches, you are tired nearly to the point of collapse, but even if you stop and lie down, you never feel rested. There is nothing that marks the passing of time, it simply goes on forever.
>>
>>17912902
Catholic here passing by.
This is correct. Hell is the absence of God, and when in Hell, you feel incomplete. I imagine at first it would be okay, but you're there for eternity, so something that may seem like a small nag would become suffering.
It's basically a sunburn.
My question is what happens while in Hell. Satan probably has something to do with his group of demons and sinners, right?

Hell is not separation from God

“The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.” – Revelation 14:10

“If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” – Psalm 139:8
>>
>>17914093

Fun fact: The parts of the Christian Bible that deal with eternal torment for unrepentant sinners is mistranslated. (Dimitri, if you're reading this, I don't want some religious debate about whether God is real or not)
Matthew 25:46 (As we usually read it) "And these will go away into everlasting punishment [kolasin], but the righteous into eternal life."
Kolasin actually means "punishment for the correction of the offender" or "age-lasting corrective punishment" If you read 1 John 4:17,18
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment (Kolasin), and the one who fears is not perfected in love." Then The Bible is basically saying that unrepentant sinners will be punished only until they are corrected/no longer fear/made perfect in love
So when Bob Marley says ''Every little thing, is gonna be all right'' He's right.
Note that the part of Revelations that talks about the lake of fire originally uses the word ''basanizo'' (which we normally read nowadays as ''torment'') is mainly used to mean ''testing purity'' which furthers prove the point that eternal torment is not something that's going to happen
>>
>>17914153
So based on this translation fix, this means that hell is not going to be eternal damnation, but just a very long process of washing your soul and then drying it.
>>
i think Hell originally was just really cold
>>
>>17914153
But you said the Bible says "an age-lasting corrective punishment." If I'm understanding right, then it is everlasting because because its age-lasting
>>

>>
There is no torment that would last forever which you would not adapt to. Even if you were continually burned in a lake of fire for every waking moment, say, eventually even that would lose its meaning in eternity. If hell is a place where you retain the same/similar consciousness as you have now, then you will always adapt to the particular pain presented given enough time. I do not therefore believe in hell, or at least an eternal one.

A merciful God wouldn't torment you for the rest of eternity for things you did for less than 100 years, would he?
It seems really unlikely.
Also, just how bad do you have to really be to be put into hell?
I'd say we're, for the most part, much better than our societal counterparts of 2000 years ago.
As time passes, it seems that the condition of the world and its general populace becomes better and better.
Maybe Heaven is simply a time way far-off where singularity has been achieved and what seems mostly impossible now is widely possible then - time travel, flying, creating worlds of your own. Where consciousness can be traced to a frequency.
Hell can't truly be eternal damnation - what's the point and why? We're learning and not one learns so much as to be truly "immaculate".
The concept of hell is just a scare-tactic to get society and civilization as we know it moving in the right direction. Love, fairness and all that.

Oh please. What the fuck is so noble about working a field your entire life only to die at 38 of tooth decay after burying 7 of the 9 kids you had? At what point is your fake glorious past? Because until the advent of leisure time in the 1900s life was shit for pretty much everyone.

Life today is air conditioned, lights are on at night, people bathe regularly, entertainment of any type is moments away and at no point was mankind more peaceful than the last 7 decades. All of that is fact buddy. Now tell me what anyone in the past had that tops ice cream and porn.

imagine you had love from someone who was writing letters to you, and through the letters you wrote to each other, you fell so in love that you would cry tears of joy.

now imagine that person was going to be with you. they were coming, you knew they were coming, and you were so happy.

then imagine some beings telling you your feelings of love are the "wrong answer" and in an instant you were totally alone. the only being in the entire world.

now, imagine there were other beings in the world who made you feel that alone deliberately, telling each other to stay away from you.

and then imagine that the person whom you loved and loved you stayed away from you, too.

and then imagine that everywhere you went, people would continue to ostracize you deliberately, and on top of that, they would always yell nasty things at you when you weren't looking.

and now imagine that never ever ended until you died, and as the years passed, you succumbed to a point where all you would do is cry out in pain to everybody you could, begging for mercy, just to make the yelling stop.

then imagine that the yells turned into demands for you to hate and kill and die.

then imagine that there was an afterlife, and you knew that those same beings could put you right back into that type of torture for eternity, like your brain was in a jar and they could force-feed you eternities of unfathomable excruciating pain, and since you asked them to stop countless times, and they never stopped, if you asked for something like no afterlife but an eternity of non-existence because you knew that those same beings could merely potentially do the same torturous stuff to you, they could very easily decide to give you the opposite of what you asked for again.

then imagine that you still were alive and they were all laughing with each other at your excruciating pain, and they yell at you they do it because it's fun.

then imagine it was all because you were too fat for someone else's standards.

If you don't look around you and see this reality as hell, with all the worldly suffering (Africa, middle East, India, southeast Asia, China, etc) you see the world in a very idealized and insular lens.

>>
I imagine hell is what I live because it's a personal experience. I can only know what I perceive and that could be my life, my purgatory, my reincarnation in repetitious hellish lives. I can't say something exists or it doesn't. I don't want to believe in any one religion but for sure my life is mostly geared toward the worst and I should find the light in each moment. I don't think I can break the chain but simply endure and work upon the worst. To me everything sucks and there is no higher power making it the best as long as I think a cetain way. With war , famine, Ect. we are more often than not in heaven but a type of purgatory where we should learn on past mistakes. The only folly is coming back each time without past memories being expected to improve upon what we have forgotten and dealing with such consequences. If so than it's YOLO. If not you only have you're proverbial save point being when you created your avatar's first save to venture out and do what you want. Even then It's up to you to be happy or to atleast find some enjoyment fucking around. Yes you can do whatever while you are here but everyone else has rules and laws set in place to guide you or simply fuck you from doing what you want to. From what I've learned so far I could be happy from hard work and saving money setting my future up Orrrrrrrr I could simply torture and murder those who have screwed me over for so long. Off rails I have had it bad for a white male and hold only pure disdain for those around me. Simply put it seems everyone around me has had it in for me and I should rebel with violence considering I'll get an infinite amount of go-arounds til I find the perfect path. I hate, therefore I am.

I hate to be an edge lord but damn...This IS my hell and I try. I try so hard to keep going and put on a smile but It's so hard. There is plenty of things in this world to make one happy but to me this world is dying if not already dead and quite dystopian in a sense. I want to make the best of it and can but even then the amount of work and struggle I must endure is so painful. What's the point? To learn humility and to be humble? Others will never know your struggle. You will never know theirs. How do religions have pure factoids stating how you should live and why are there so many choices to begin with? If it was so straight forward why would there be options? If there was a heaven and hell it should be as obvious as a coin toss but NO, you litter once or steal or kill in what you belive and your fucked beyond your human perception forever...Why?

Hell is in your mind, and people experience it all the time. When you gnash your teeth because you fear/dislike the future, or you feel grief because you miss someone that you want to die. Hell is a state of being. It comes when you live with the absence of God. In other words, you don't love, you don't open yourself up to love, and you are burdened with a seemingly neverending amount of karmic debt. But it is never eternal. If you just stay still, and acknowledge the truth to reality, eventually the karma will wash away to a neutral state. Then, you can walk towards the Light once more. And you are free.

Unfortunately, I think that as sad as it is right now, it can get a whole lot worse. Hypothetically if Hell were real, and "created" by a being who knows so much more about the human experience than us, I would imagine Hell could be much, much worse.
>>
>>17920583
Reincarnation may be a thing, but at some point we'll be beyond death as in our offspring will only hear of death as a fairytale and never be afraid to live, experience, grow.
There were apparently parts of the bible removed which did reference reincarnation. Why? Perhaps so people would try to make best use of the life they have now to speeden the process towards universal bliss, the singularity and not seek to waste their life in hopes of a "better" one when they could be contributing more to society as a whole here and now.
>>
>>17920618
>>17920583
At the beginning of the Christian era, reincarnation was one of the pillars of belief. In 553 A.D, a woman removed all references to it. And as a result, Christianity makes no sense anymore, and also lost credibility.

>The only sin is OK, sex.

>>
>>17920708
The concept of reincarnation isn't needed when you're trying to promulgate a society/civilization capable of transcending death.
We're becoming more and more "angelic"/heaven-like as a whole by the day leading to the universal self-actualization which is God.
At their core, religions make sense, no matter how silly some more irrelevant aspects of it may seem, because they're simply trying to establish order towards a common goal like all systems.
>>
>>17920583
Even a lot of Christians don't believe in Hell.
>>
>>17920777
Checked.
And yeah you are right. It isn't "needed". But that's not why so much of the Bible was edited. That was always in the interest of the elites, not the people. It would have been much better if we simply had everything that was originally in the Bible while at the same time not being translated to shit. All in all, it still gets the message across. But not as well as some other religions.
>>
I think hell and heaven are your own consciousness. Imagine when you die and there's nothing left but your consciousness, you remember everything you did good and bad and you keep reliving it.

So, if you did good things you will be in the so called heaven and if you did bad things you will be in hell. There's not a God waiting to judge, God is everything therefore you are God too you judge yourself.
>>
>>17920794
True.
However, things to consider when talking about so-called elites seeking "total control" is that they too have/had families and friends - I don't think we should look at all, heck, most elites as heartless bastards trying to simply control all below them on the hierarchy for personal profit.
Elites don't get to the "top" on their own - family, friends, associates. It's typically really a parent-child relationship with the parent being the "elite" doing what's best for their child and the child one day not completely forgetting about their parents care and abandoning them in a dilapidated retirement home. Help the world so it can help you.
As corny as it sounds, we're all really a family.
Malevolent use of power pales in comparison to benevolent use of power.
If it weren't so, we'd all be leagues more caged as people in all sense of the word.
