ANALYSIS
1) I suspect the savings in fuel and time from orion today are atleast
half as real as ups claims.
2) The source of those savings is highly non-random and certainly not
evenly distributed accross the fleet.
3) Savings are coming from areas with higher route complexity and
delivery density variation. Higher static uncertainty. (im saying
everything is fixed, no traffic, the only thing that changes is the
delivery points for the day)
San Jose.
Example, just take any really complex set of roads and then vary
delivery points and priorities on them. Orion can probably generate a
better route very much instantly, than the old system in that area. If
your not familar with the area, then you don't have to consider it
since it does it instantly.
4) It probably can't intergrate intelligence in real time any better
than coming up with a set of compatible corrections to what it
actually knows about. No computer system that is deployed even for the
us military can even do that yet. Uber, Eaze, ETC, no one does it
better than a skilled and experienced human. at once, harder to tell
where the bug is, but probably just both changes differently.
If your a highly intelligent experienced driver in an area with
lower static complexity and dynamic complexity then its possible orion
might show you one or two tricks, but overall you will probably do
worse since you know candy land rainbow road like shortcuts and every
other relevant dynamic pattern to consider.

>UPS ORION IS SKYNET
Do you know what you're saying?
>Implying UPS has solved NP-complete questions and is only delivering packages with that knowledge. Hasn't transformed business and sold delivery division.
>Implying that humans are at all efficient.
>Never dealt with delivery drivers on a regular, professional basis. Don't know how much they fuck around.
>Big data even applied lazily can't improve things like mad over current said fuckery, even when it only implied that there is some surveillance to reign in driver fuckery.
Nice OP.
