Has anyone been here recently, either for a history tour or a parnormal tour? is it worth paying to see anymore? Or did they turn it into a cash grab?
The last time i was there was in 2005 and it was cool then, I talked with the owners and how they were restoring it etc.

Seems like an awesome place to visit. Every ghost hunting show that's ever been there seemed to pull a great episode out of it which might not be saying much
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSCeZEzlZTU
but there's tons of corroboration from amateur investigators that the place is crazy haunted.
Never been though, nope.

What happened there?
went for an overnight last month. it was my 4th overnight. its creepy but ive never seen anything. ive heard noises everytime but that can easily be debunked due to the lack of windows on most of the floors. still a good time and worth the price.

>that can easily be debunked due to the lack of windows
What does this mean? This is the first time I've heard "lack of windows" used to debunk weird sounds in buildings.
>>17861646
Bill Gates would like to have a word with you.
wind blowing shit around. also allows a shit ton of birds and bats into the building. if you go be sure not to point your flashlight towards the ceiling. bats will swoop straight down towards you.
>>17861646
There's no window units in half the building, just openings, since punks busted out all the windows in the 80s and 90s
>>17861646
birds for example

So, only the main building is still there?
theres two buildings left with a underground tunnel connecting them. one used to be the laundry building which has been turned into a safe room/museum. the other is the hospital itself.
>>17861712
The two buildings to the right of the top right of the building are still there, laundry room and boiler room. The old foundation walls of the old hosipital are there as well as a partially exposed tunnel to the "body chute"

The door/frame is one of the entrances to the old hospital/entertainment building seen next to the foot of the nurse on the left
>>17861732
and theres how it looked ~2002 or so before it was cleaned out
>>17861723
I see what you mean from OP's picture.
Crazy that people are living in houses that close to it.

Nurse building in late 90s before it was demolished. (nurse building is the L-shaped structure in the upper right in >>17860429
)
>>17861772
As you can see I'm fascinated with the many structures and house and how they've held up over the years.
I want to back this summer, but I dont know if it will be as fun as it was 11 years ago. I'm worried it will be too sterile. At least then, the owners used to chat with the guests, and show us slide shows of restoration and historical pictures. Their head security Ron parkhurst used to run a really nice waverly site that went defunct in 2007 or so, and I havent been able to find one like it since
the owners still chat with guests on the overnight but every year i go back im more and more disappointed with the shitty renovations they do. turning it into a gimmick haunted hotel is retarded.
>>17861790
I guess I can understand it, i mean they spent 2 mil or whatever on the property and want to recoup their money somehow, but a hotel doesnt seem the way to go
When I went in 2005 the lastest restoration they had was windows on the 2nd floor

another picture showing the same wall 60 years ago
>>17862546
So if I understand correctly, there is a museum and hotel, you get tourist tours and everything is cleaned up.
Sounds incredibly lame and not like my idea of urban exploring at all to me.
what a shame
>>17863323
It hasnt been urbex in about 20 years. If you were around in the 90s though the previous owner was letting people in there to purposely destroy the place. 90% of all the damage in the complex happened in a 5 year span

I thought it was like The Simpsons version of Beverly Hills
more pictures from when i went there in 2005

I attended a punk show from a louisville band called The Revenants that took place there when it was still abandoned... wasn't busted either. Magic.
>>17864755
what year was that?
My ole teacher visited the spot with her bf. This was among her many photos taken at Waverly
^^ This was very recent as well. She had visited only about a month ago

Why do people screenshot their phones instead of the actual image?
My phone is lil old, figured I'd retain the quality photo they took as much as possible, instead of attempting to zoom and make it any worse
>>17865082
creepy
>>17864633
back in 2001 when the old owner was trying to make the building collapse
It would make one hell of an airsoft field.
>>17864760
1997 I believe
Can you just go walk into it? Or do you have to ask the owners, and are they pretty open to visitors?
I'm planning a trip for me and my wife, someday.
>>17866684
You have to get tickets, $25 for a day tour on sundays. Its pretty well locked down and under heavy security now
