I've got a number of firsthand paranormal experiences regarding UFOs and Ghosts, and I could recount local Bigfoot sightings had by other people, and have heard/experienced some Squatchy things myself but I'm not sure those are the kind of scary stories to tell coworkers to scare them.

I recommend the YT channel Dark Waters. Specialises in dogmen, but his Katrina stories are terrifying. He actually focuses on local (New Orleans) spooks and interviews everyone involved and explores the site of the experiences, be it swamp, hotel or woods. Great storyteller; sounds like a guy telling a story with a beer in hand, not that forced spoopy voice people do.

Oh shit. That reminds me. They had the police and military radio communications online during Katrina. I'd love to hear his stories so I'll check into it but the shit that was on there was very fucking creepy. It was the closest to a zombie apocalypse I will probably ever come to. The key to really getting spooked is to imagine yourself in the story being told. If you have familiarity with the story, such as visiting or knowing the area, it really helps. My suggestion, OP, would be to find local BFRO reports and see if any hit close to home.

Anyways I'll share a story that was spooky to me:

Back when my wife and I were dating, we rented a house in a fairly residential area. There were woods nearby but it's not like it was heavy urban or heavy rural either way. I enjoy sleeping with the window open in the fall and on this night, a Saturday, I decided to keep the window open. In the middle of the night I was awoken by a sound. I'm generally a sound sleeper so something waking me up has to be loud and sustained enough to do the trick.

This sound, as best as I can describe, sounded like a woman whaling. In fact, I immediately told my wife that it sounded like a drunk woman dealing with some sort of domestic dispute. I was kind of angered at first. Then it kept happening, and it was far, far too long to be a human. It was either coming from the woods or a road directly behind the house. Very close either way.

It eventually stopped and I stayed up for another 30-40 minutes waiting for the police to show up. Surely someone heard it as well and would have called the police. Well, the cops never showed and I eventually went back to sleep.

I was never able figure out the source of the sound until recently. Apparently when rabbits are being slowly killed, they make a sound that sounds like a drunk woman crying. Considering we had coyote problems in the area, I have no doubt that was the source.

Still, to be woken up in the middle of the night by what sounded like a whaling woman in the woods by the house was very fucking creepy.

Depending on where you live, the sound of women screaming an unholy, too-long yowl like they're being brutally murdered could be a mountain lion. It's about the only sound I can hear at night that will immediately send me back into the house.

I must have been like twelve listening to my cousin tell my dad and aunt how he and some friends were coming home from Yosemite. This is probably 94/95.

He said they were driving down this long deserted forest road. It was late at night. He said there was a figure in the road. They slowed down because it didn't move as they got closer. He said he rolled down the window to say, "get the fuck off the road"

He said he what was standing in the road. What they saw... was the devil.

My cousin Jimmy is an amazing artist. He does tattoos, murals on cars, and paintings.

He drew a picture of what he saw. And showed it to my dad and aunt (his mom), and I took a look. He was dead serious when he was describing what he saw. What he drew looked like a demon or I guess even what a devil would look like. I guess I could compare it to the monster from jeepers creepers. It didn't have horns or a tail. It was shaped like a man.

I asked if I could keep it, but he said no and threw it in the fireplace. Here is a picture of his skills to show how well he draws. He did these while in prison and gave them to my dad when he got out. They were done on cotton cloths with Bic pens

Unsolved Mysteries didn't skew or cherry pick data or blatantly lie to drum up ratings. They presented the facts as they had them and then asked viewers to contact them if they had information. Like Americas Most Wanted, they actually solved cases.

Weird shit happens in Waiouru there have been alot of suicides from recruit training and back in ww1 and ww2 all the dead bodys would be shipped back and processed in waioruru and bodys from the Tangi\wai Disaster.
