ITT: If aliens made direct contact publicly do you think they would be friendly or hostile?

Also aliens thread
>>
>>17823548
they would have to be sufficiently advanced to have the technology to reach us in the first place, that level of tech SHOULD save them from needing to scour earth clean as there are barren planets with better resources and robots make better slaves than humans, so unless they just want to kill us for keks, I bet they'd be friendly
>>
I thought they'd be friendly for a long time. Then I saw what mankind is capable of and thought about what their reasons to come would be, so I thought hostile.
Here's my reasoning. Our civilization is so entangled in recklessly fighting itself for monetary profit and doesn't care much about investing money into something which probably won't return any profit, that it's quite unlikely that mankind would work together as a whole for even saving itself, Yet alone discovering other civilizations. A civilization capable of traveling the universe would have to be extremely aligned and have a strong focus on that job. You don't get that through hippie friendliness (that's coming from a friendly hippie btw), but through strongly enforced dictatorship. If they come, they want our resources and they won't accept us for being different, because them being all the same enabled them to get here in the first place.
>>
>>17823589
OP here
the way i look at it would be hostile given that its obvious that with their technology they would already have a vast understanding of the human race and earth as well so thinking like that my idea is that they would truly only arrive here to capture our planets for its resource other wise to move their population, otherwise they could always arrive in order to establish a connection with another intelligent life, it only seems more plausible that they would take advantage of a lesser species
>>
>>17823548
Pretty much every version of the "more advanced people make contact with less advanced people" story turns out super shitty for the less advanced people.

But then again that's just us, maybe ayylmaos will be cool
>>
Some would be friendly
Some wouldn't

Depends which race of aliens landed
>>
>>17823548
Don't be a fool like the people on this rooftop .The aliens either need food ,slaves or a place to live after they trashed theirs .
>>
Probably friendly. If a species has the technology to find us and to travel here, there's basically no reason for them to be hostile to us. If they want natural resources, there's really nothing that can't be found in a more convenient form somewhere else. If they want something that living things produce, it would likely be easier for them to engineer a life form to produce it for them. If they want slaves, they could make robots that are cheaper and better than we could ever be. Even if they want a planet to colonize, they could likely find one better suited to them than this one elsewhere, or would have technology that would make many other planets valid subjects for colonization. Given all that, if they're going to bother contacting us, it's probably going to be purely for the satisfaction of communicating with other sentient life.
>>
shit always floats to the top, so whoever is in charge of the ayliums, are going to be assholes.

neither. it would be a false flag made to usher in the one world government. some fancy tech, holograms in the sky, etc..
>>
>>17823548
zeta i see you
>>
If they were hostile, we'd never even know they existed. If they had the means to travel the universe effectively you can guarantee that if they needed us gone it would be easy for them, whatever kind of weapon it might be we'd likely be completely oblivious to it. I'd consider that if we ever make contact, their intentions will be good.
>>
>>17823548
All the resources Earth has, including water, exist all over the cosmos. Our entire fucking supply of water on Earth was deposited through asteroid impacts.

The only resource the Earth has which might actually be attractive for them to come and take is slaves, but even that is an unlikely necessity for a very advanced civilization.

So I don't think we have to worry about aliens wanting to just wipe us out completely. Worst case scenario they enslave us, and honestly I don't think I would mind being an alien slave. I might even get the opportunity to check out the alien internet from time to time. Watch some alien porn. It would be a pretty sweet deal.

Their technology would be so advanced, we wouldn't even be considered important to them.

Think of it like this: a group of humans somewhere far away have decided to build a factory. They buy some land from another human, and get more humans to build it. After a few years, the factory is ready. Humans come and go, doing their job, eating their lunch, getting on with their lives. The factory is polluting the atmosphere while putting out its products, and promising to everyone they'll do something about emissions.

All the while, nobody has bothered to consult the ants that live just on the other side of the car park. No one even gives them a thought. Maybe the ants start getting a little too big for their boots and decide to go to war, where the humans realise their canteen is just a little less hygienic than they'd want. In comes a single human with a single bottle of ant killer and then everyone goes back to forgetting about them.

We are the ants. If aliens came here, they wouldn't give a shit about us. They wouldn't try to talk to us, or attack us. Maybe a few would study us, just for curiosity's sake, but the rest won't care. They'd do their thing, and we'd have no clue what it was all about. But if we tried to nuke them, they'd keep doing their thing while some minor branch of their operation wipes us all out with barely any effort.
>>
>>17823548
Hostile.
>>
Well, for starters, calling them aliens is very rude btw. Are you a spacist? Secondly, if xenos made direct public contact, they would be MY friends, and how they respond beyond that is entirely their choice. In fact, the only kind of person I can't tolerate are those who practice unconditional censorship of an idea, since if they don't allow information to evolve, then I couldn't really recognize them as sentient life even I wanted to.

Until the majority of people on our planet start thinking this way, xenos wouldn't make direct contact publicly in the first place. Think about it. Xenos making contact would have already scouted this planet thoroughly. Maybe even in this thread, who knows? I mean, if foreign humans can learn English, then it isn't impossible. Anyways...

The real question is, we can assume that any potential xenos out their take their cues from us. Maybe--and this is a wild idea I got from observing other people on this planet of ours--maybe they'd be hostile to *some* people, but friendly to others based on each individual's choices. I mean, that's what I'd do if I was a xeno, which I am definitely not. Definitely.

Sorry to break it to you anon but the moment aliens make contact with Earth, I presume it will be the end of humanity. Hostile = most likely enslave or dead. Friendly = Humans will be breed to extinction. There is no man or woman that can compete with them genetically. It will be fast and knowing humans half the world will be race traitors. I am sure they will give us options to choose to be humans but what about our kids, and our kids after that? They will sing the song of diversity.

We are all pretty much aliens...

Categorically this.

The third option is isolated contact on a case-case basis per each individual's preferences.
>>
>>17823548

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that an alien species would be culturally similar to humans. Civilizations that developed independently on Earth share many characteristics, so perhaps two civilizations that developed independently in the galaxy might also be similar. And we have a good idea of what happened to human civilizations that came into contact.

Let's just hope that the aliens are a big proponent of tolerance

Not really the same thing then huh?

>>17823548
why ever would aliens be hostile?
>>
>>17828406
Why, because of xer's usage of xe? It's 2016, it's time to about we started being universally correct in our speech.

Blue Sphere Alliance
>>
They would be friendly.
They would want to help us to teach us about the rest of the universe.
>>
Any race advanced enough to get here would at best study us the way they study animals in the wild. Maybe collect a few of us for zoos. At worst, go full pest control on us.

I don't think public contact would be of any use to them.
>>
Indifferent. Hell if you examine things like abductions you know, that is exactly how they feel.
We are a curiosity at most to them. They study us like we would a chimp in a huge cage.
I bet somewhere out there they are watching their equivalent to Animal Planet and getting their Keks at 'Sub species 67320A342, of planet 9375789348485' a semi intelligent species that calls it self human that things its smart because it can split the atom and has tacos.
>>
>>17823548
If aliens were peaceful I don't think they'd want to visit earth, mostly because we're probably like the North Korea of space. If you come here in peace you could end up captured by the world governments and tortured for information about your space age technology.

So the only reason they would come here is if they were a species of military prowess and had plans to invade us. That's my two cents. I don't have anything to back it up.
>>
>>17823548
Aliens have been to Earth before, however the prime directive does not allow them to make contact or interfere with our civilization in any way.

This. Their technology would be so far beyond ours that we'd be basically beneath their notice. They probably wouldn't bother contacting us- we wouldn't have anything to offer them, it'd be like us 'contacting' some ants or something. If they wanted something the earth had, they could wipe us out trivially easily and take it, but odds are they wouldn't find much here they couldn't find elsewhere.
>>
>>17823548
There was a calculation done and it said conservatively that there should be at least 300 other intelligent species in this galaxy. You know they would form a type of UN to keep beginner societies safe like us. A society could easily have advanced hundreds of millions of years beyond were we are at. Theres probably just a few North Korea types.

Trekkie, please leave and don't come back until you have some coffee with you, preferably sourced from another nebula far, far away.
