Is astral projection real? If so, how do you achieve it?

I'm not sure if people are gifted with it or it's really all just technique.. maybe both...

For me, I lay in bed, soldier position, I close my eyes, and breathe only through my nose. You have to be worried about nothing else at all as well. Just focus on nothing so something can come to you. As soon as I feel I'm "there" I picture my awareness in my blackened eyes and I imagine it leaving my body and floating "elsewhere".

When you imagine your body floating, do you do it from a first person perspective or from a third person perspective?

When I'm in the astral realm, I'm in first person, so first, naturally.
