what does /x/ think of using hypnosis videos to better themselves? do you think there is a "catch" to them where you are indebted in some way to the person who made the file?

No. Any decent self-improvement file will empower you in a way that leaves no debt. Only predatory hypnotists try to embed dependency in a self-help script.

Amateur hypnotist here, yes you can use it to better yourself, no there is no catch. You will only accept positive things from the hypnotist or at least things you want to happen on some level.
I've hypnotized people to go to bed earlier when they wanted to stay up late all the time, even though they wanted to stay up all night, they knew deep down it was better for their health to go to bed on time.
