Would that be a good place to hide, or no?
Would be easy to escape detection in the ocean, but if you could create a ship that can travail the amazing distances between solar systems, I feel like you could do better than hiding under water.

My thinking was, that's as close as you can get while remaining reliably undetectable. If their goal is to study humanity.
Anywhere. Even the open ocean is a fantastic place to hide. We don't know anything about it. We don't even know where Sharks go when they're not biting people and we've never seen them mating because they go deep underwater to do it.
Everything in the deep sea looks like an alien.
We know more about the universe than our small planets ocean so i guess they could be deep down there.

That's mostly because water is a really effective barrier to radio, light, and most of the other kinds of EM that we use to scope shit out from a distance.
It forces us to actually physically go down there, at least with robots, to see what's in it.
The deep sea is otherworldly anyway. It doesn't need extraterrestrials to be completely alien to us.
