and dark city as in total destruction or still functioning but it's a figment of reality?
I always have this sequence in my head since I was a kid where I'm in a wet alleyway and there's steam coming out of various pipes pointing toward the night. People walk by on the sidewalk and there are lights turned on in windows but no one ever let's anyone in.

I forget what happens in that movie.
