Time machine varies is possibility due to many factors; all of which can be summed up in the singular problem that since we weren't the first species to propose it, discover it, or manipulate it, it is extremely difficult for us to utilise it.

Follow through with this idea, if only for amusement. Suppose you have the power to break a glass, but in the same room as you, there are 100 people who can observe what happened but nothing else and there are 5 other people with the same ability; 3 of them can repair that glass to near perfection, while 2 others can grab you under the arms, and chuck you out of the building.

Since your ability to break that glass has now been taken away, as someone spotted that you did so and now has amended said problem, that ability no longer 'exists' to you and others like you. Similarly, since the glass has been repaired, and the only proof of it ever being broken is a fleeting memory, how could you ever prove that the ability to break said glass ever existed?

Of course, 5 guys in a room aren't infallible, and occasionally small spots of uncleanliness may occur; dust on the tabletops, spilled food quickly picken up, small amounts of sweat left by hands resting on furniture. However, these can be cleaned up at a later date with little difficulty, or ignored for an extremely long time, by which time those 100 people may have either left, or are no longer paying attention.

In short, of course it's possible to time travel. Just don't expect to change the world and for right people to notice.
