Do you believe in the concept of guiding spirits ?

My father, who was a very spiritual person did.
He was deep into this "being-one-with-nature"-thing.
He grew his own vegetables und hunted for his meat.
He performed some strange rituales before engaging in certain activities.
For example: He took a shower with unscented soap at midnight and then the would fast for a whole day only drinking water before going for a hunt. Or he would sacrifice a few fruits or vegetables by dropping them of in the woods underneath an oak tree.
Every year he planted 5 trees and stuff like this. We always used every last bit of an animal he brought home from a hunting trip.

He believed in a higher force, an entity guiding and protecting those who honor nature and wildlife, as did my grandfather.
>>
As i was 15 years old my father decided it was time for me to accompany him and hunt my first animal. so we both showered and fasted and spend the day together.
he told me lots of stories about things he experienced, things he believed and things he hoped i will one day experience myself.

he also told me that there is a circle of life every being has to fullfil and a higher force will reward every righteous creature that follows the path of nature.
long story short: he believed nature itelf has a consciousness and will guide and protect those who only kill for food or selfdefense and create and care for their offspring.
he also believed that this natural entity will take shape of the first animal you ever killed for food.
He told me, that to honor his first kill and to remind the young hunter that he is a part of nature it has been tradition in our family, that a hunter has to eat the heart of his first kill and shed a few drops of his own blood on the place where the animal died.

Next day i killed my first animal a beautiful roe doe. We kept our family tradition alive: I ate its heart, after we cooked it in birch water and i nicked my finger with a blade to shed some of my blood.
I remember how my father hugged me and told me that if i ever become a man, nature will look after me.

I did not think about this for years to come. I moved to a different town, got married, my father passed away and i bought a house. but after i got my wife pregnant i had two very strange experiences that made me remember my father words.

The first incident happend last year
I was driving back from work late.
It was already dark outside and it was hard to see shit thanks to pouring rain, wind and lightning. According to the radio station the higway was blocked after a truck lost its cargo and i decided to take a small road through a forest in order to avoid the highway. I was tired, speeding and not really paying attention and as i was driving this lonely and forgotten road something very strange happend. The flash of a lightning illuminated the area for a splitsecond like daylight.
Only a few meters infront of my car stood a deer. i was going like 130km/h (80mph) and adrenalin just shot through my body while i was slamming the brakes.
The wheels stopped spinning on the wet ground and the car continued sliding forward hiting the animal with a loud bang before coming to a stop. i was shaking and got out of the car to look at the damage. Then all hell broke loose: a whole treeline colapsed on the road only a few hundred meters infront of me with an earthshattering creaking sound (police later stated that the rain washed out the soil and a small landslide caused the trees to collapse). I went to look for the deer: it was gone without a trace.
Also there was no visible damage on my car, not even a single hair or drop of blood.
But hree dozen huge trees fell on the road where i would have been driving by that time.
I am pretty sure: real or not, what i saw that night saved my life.
>>
The second incident happend two weeks ago:
We were visiting my mother and the old house of my childhood and i strolled into the woods were my father and i used to hunt i came across a thick crooked beech that i remembered. It was the place where i took my first shot that killed an animal and just as i was thinking that i noticed a roe walking across a small clearing roughly the same direction and distance where i shot my first deer almost 15 years ago.
it looked straight at me, then proceeded walking and dissapeared into the woods. It did not make any sound passing through the ferns, nor did its steps on the ground and i was not able to find any traces any imprints, anything on the ground.
it was like it simply did not exist physically.

these two incidents made me thinking: could something like a guiding protective spirit really exist ?

TL;DR version: my life got saved by a ghost deer, i encountered it a second time.

I like your story. Are you guys Indians?

I do believe in such things but don't have the relationship with nature or a sixth sense to understand it.
>>
I do beleive in protective spirits and the rituals and respect you showed to the spirit is really incredible.

Enjoy your protective spirt OP. You deserve it
>>
When I was a baby ID lay on my back and grab at the air like something was above me moving around with nothing there

My parents would watch me from across the room and I'd be acting like something was above watching me

They always said guardian angels watched me when I was a baby, and I do believe them.
>>
>>17703094
Yup, its true
>>
>>17703094

So when are you going to answer your call, OP?

It's in your blood.

Embrace it.
>>
>>17703094
When you dropped the blood, you made a pact. This interwined your bloodlines with that of the deer. Now they will have the chance to incarnate and live as humans, and in return for your selfless act of soul uplifting (instead of keeping only those of your lineage to reborn) nature will try not to be a dick to you.

TL;DR: enjoy your deer family, op.
>>
I honestly believe that I am protected by a spirit, and I've been told this repeatedly through many different mediums.

Which leads me to the question, is there a way to show gratitude to the spirits or is it best not to interract with them?
>>
>>17705493

Every kid does that, its just random movement like every baby does you flaming retard. Youre not a special snowflake
>>
>>17705695
Maybe. Maybe not.

I have faith in something watching over me, because I've had enough "lucky" things happen that it's hard to believe it's all coincidence.

But that's just me. Call me a retard or whatever
>>
>>17703094
how can i get myself a stand?
how could i know the kind of ability it would have?
>>
My grandmother tells me a story about my great grandma Wilma

She was on her deathbed when she said" what's the last thing you want from me before I die" and my granny says "watch over me and the rest of my family
Well know that you are near if we see a cardinal

And every time I see a cardinal I know that's my great gramaw

it depends on the spirit. try to interact with it and get to know it. most spirits protect those they like. generally it depends on your occupation or hobbies. sometimes spirits are ordered to watch over certain people by stronger spirits. that said most spirits do enjoy praise or gifts for their efforts. my advice is to find out what spirit it might be (many spirits go by many names and have many forms). try and research it and start off small and work your way up. getting to know spirits is like getting to know people it takes time and communication. just always treat them with respect, especially before you get to know them well. not all spirits are extremely powerful, but even the weakest ones will have some tricks up their sleeve that will surprise you.
>>
>>17705547
what call should he answer ??
>>
>>17706403
How can I find out its potential name, or indeed what/who the spirit is?
>>
feels sad to be alone.
>>
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I DID THIS WITH A SKINWALKER
>>
>>17709553
you mean making a pact with its bloodline like this
>>17705631 anon described ?

does not sound like a good idea, but hey why not giving it a try
>>
>>17703094

>>
>>17709574
Kys, flaming faggot.
His father was a really neat shamanic type. Anyone could tell you that his practice was true to Nature, and his actions full of respect.
>>

>>
>>17709893
So, you color filter me and try to trigger me all across the board? Why don't you just hide me then? Okay? Thanks.
>>
. I'm especially attracted to this thread because it stands out from most of the threads on /x/. It seems to me that your dad had a lot of wisdom. Sure, maybe he was just crazy, a lot of people may tell you that. But I've done a lot of research on Animistic cultures and tribes in the last few months and I am very inclined to believe that there is something to this whole "nature has a consciousness" thing, as it's a theme that pops up in almost every culture that depends on the wild for their survival.

I think this is partly because they grow up in the wild, and so instead of having their intellectual capacities used on things we teach here like mathematics and vocabulary, they learn about their environment. Whether or not wilderness has a "consciousness" or not is actually kind of irrelevant if you consider the idea that people who grow up honing the skill of how to "read" the landscape are basically engaging in a dialogue with the environment, whether it's conscious or not. When you have such an unbroken web of information and energy exchange as a jungle or healthy forest, I believe that those attuned enough can decipher a lot from it. It's like looking at the ripples in water if you've learned enough about how water acts, you can almost "read" the water and learn many things about the particular body of water you're looking at, like depth or where it's edges lie. That's not the best example, but it's difficult to find good analogies for this.
>>
>>17709986
Now, as for spirits. Do actual spirits float around the forest like ghosties and try to communicate with people? Maybe. Maybe not though. It seems more likely that it has something to do with the fact that a healthy forest is a lot like a body. It's made up of many cells that could be seen to make up a greater, wiser organism. Like I said, it could be conscious, and maybe not, but there are those out there that seem to have a higher knowledge of these things. It might be beneficial for you to look into shamans in indiginous tribes to learn more. A common misconception about shamans is that they're venerated by their tribes and are high in social standing. This is usually not true, and the shamans often live at the edge of the settlement. They also don't play by the rules of their society in some ways. They often have a way of being able to drop their social conditioning and enter a state of mind that is more open and blank, like a child. Open. Suggestible. They use this ability to act as mediators between the human world (society, the tribe's well being, etc) and the non-human (the trees, the paths of animals, the "breath" or "heartbeat" of the forest).

I'm aware that I sound woo-wooey and my writing isn't that good, but please don't let that derail your journey. Seek out someone who may have great knowledge of nature and what it has to say. Research animistic tribes and shamanism. I believe that there is lot of wisdom to be found out there.
>>
>>17709986
Who do you think you are,his spirit guide?"John walton"
>>
>>17709992
My writing isn't as good as it used to be. I have a hard time eloquently explaining my thoughts. I think that your father "got it" basically. He rediscovered what is essentially a lost language in our modern world. If I were you, I would attempt to follow in his footsteps. I have felt this same calling all my life. I wish I had a teacher like your father. I've spent a lot of time in the wilderness and I believe that there is an energy there for those with a genuine heart. There is a certain level of protection in that. Probably not enough to feel too safe out there, but enough to calm your nerves a bit. Remember that life feeds on life, and you are not exempt from that just because you respect the forest and do the rituals.
>>
so how do i get my own guarding spirit ?
just fast for a day, kill an animal, eat the heart and bleed all over the area ?

sounds like dark magic
>>
>>17709623
killing with a gun or any weapon isnt natural
>>
I can recommend the books from tom brown jr.
He learned from an apache scout.

He calls it the spirit that moves through all things.

And you can feel into it and ask questions.

I once got it right on pourpuse, now im a believer.
>>
>>17712916
Well...yes it is. We naturally made the weapon to kill with. Certain monkeys/apes and a few other animals make weapons as well.
>>
>>17713455
>Certain monkeys/apes and a few other animals make weapons as well.
hunting weapons ?
like something they use to hunt and kill ?
i call bullshit on this.
never in history did a monkey use more than a stone of decent weight to throw at another animal.
if you call this a weapon, you might wanna start a stone thread.
>>
>>17713522
>hunting weapons ?
>like something they use to hunt and kill ?

They don't even do it to hunt, they sometimes just do it to kill. Elephants throw rocks at smaller animals (including people.) Monkeys beat the fuck out of each other with sticks.

And there have been cases of dolphins using sea snakes a weapons to kill fish...and other dolphins.

>never in history did a monkey use more than a stone of decent weight to throw at another animal.
>if you call this a weapon, you might wanna start a stone thread.
