Sometimes the more mainstream fair of cryptozoology has been so ingrained in believer and pop culture it's hard to discern genuine curiosities from nonsense and hoaxers so perhaps a fresher look at some lesser known cryptids in more remote localities will help give us some perspective. For what we see in the lore of different regions isn't so much the promise of new or unseen curiosities, but similar patterns or biological memes that could lend credence to the hypothetical existence of said creatures or just outright dismiss them as possibly a constant of the human imagination.
