Giant Outer Solar System Mystery Planet: Tyche

The idea of hypothetical super massive gas giant at the furthest reaches of our Solar System was first purposed by scientist John Matese in 1999 citing the origin points of long period comets from within the Oort Cloud, these points forming what seemed to be a circular/orbital pattern within the cloud as if a massive celestial body was passing through it. The hypothesized long period orbit of such a distant planet (25-30 million years) would also coincide with the relatively recent observation of a 27 million year cycle of mass extinctions and increased comet bombardment within the Solar System.

Such a massive celestial body would also explain the long standing mystery of our Solar System’s seemingly “unbalanced” gravitational equilibrium (the pull of the planets on their star and vice versa) which would seem to suggest that there is a greater gravitational influence on our Sun that what can be accounted for by the known planets.

In 2011 NASA’s Wide Field Infrared Survey Explorer Satellite detected a possible object within the outer Oort Cloud which, if an actual celestial body, would be approximately four times the size of Jupiter. Despite this, the status of Tyche at NASA remains suspect as there is yet to be any conclusive evidence suggesting its actual existence in the Survey’s findings.

This theoretical planet has also been dubiously claimed by conspiracy theorist to be the fabled “Hercolubus” of the Nibiru Cataclysm scenario or the infamous “Planet X” though such assertions are widely dismissed as baseless hokum and it should be noted that the massive elliptical orbit of such an distant object would stand little if any chance of colliding with any of the other planets.

Small Inner Solar System Mystery Planet: Vulcan

When observing anomalies in Mercury’s orbit in the mid-1800s, French astronomers hypothesized the existence of another smaller planet closer to the Sun dubbed “Vulcan”. Being that detecting an object so close to the Sun is fairly difficult the mystery planet, should it exist, remains undiscovered to this day though numerous asteroid-like objects dubbed “Vulcanoids” have been observed between the Sun and Mercury while examining images of the Sun itself. Some believe Vulcan did exist at some point in our Solar System’s history but was pulled apart by gravitational forces of its orbit passing too close to Mercury’s, its remains becoming the Vulcanoids we see today. Others speculate that Vulcan may be a Moon or planetoid locked in a binary or exotic orbit with Mercury. Even so, new photographs of mystery objects captured in close proximity to the Sun appear on a monthly basis continuing to fuel speculation.

The Bootes Super Void
A super massive empty space within the observable Universe an estimated 3 billion light years from Earth and 25 million light years in diameter the Bootes Void is the largest known structure in the Universe. Even more puzzling is the lower temperature of this section of space leading it to be termed the “Cold Spot”, suggesting that radiation and visible light may be getting absorbed by something in this massive area. Even so sixty galaxies are visible within the Bootes Void (though ten thousand less than what would normally be expected), isolated and alone in this largely spherical black abyss.

Well there's no scientific or anecdotal precedent for such an absurd assertion of space being a myth and arguably it's an even more outlandish and implausible suggestion than the accepted truth of an actual almost inconceivable universe surrounding us.

Perhaps you're just letting the egotistical facet of the human psyche bait you into thinking that you and our planet (or however you see it) is more important than what it really is. Conspiracy theories and flat/hollow Earth stuff are just one way of people applying egotistical meta-fantasies to the world around us or rather their inability to digest the scientific facts we take for granted day to day. In fact much of the stuff on /x/ is little more than an exercise in trying to make everything that exists more about ourselves, that we're somehow important enough to be deceived than the Universe actually revolves around us and not the other way around.
>>
>>17674443
completely contrary to this actually
we are so insignificant that there is no point wasting energy thinking about >space
it doesn't work like this exactly but it's extraordinarily similar: we are looking into a one sided mirror. beyond that is the "universe". we are a sideshow, a mild inconvenience, a passing thought. we collectively will achieve nothing in the world of the cosmos, we will contribute nothing to their growth. not for many many years yet, if ever.

We can either assume that modern scientific understanding is right and that the laws of physics observable here on Earth apply to outer space which conveniently seems to support this fact with how the celestial bodies move and a different sky can be viewed all around the world or we can assume that there is a giant screen surrounding our planet projecting a fake sky for reasons that escape any logical explanation for such a costly and implausable artificial structure. Even then, what is on the other side of that screen? Nothing? Another screen? Do you see how silly your argument is now?

Widely accepted modern science > blowhard skeptics on /x/

Just because we don't fully understand the grander scope of the Universe doesn't mean we have to immediately rule out any and all assumptions/conclusions we currently have based on the fact we can't travel there yet. While you're not wrong in being skeptical of these assumptions we've made based on what little we can view through telescopes, your manner in conveying it here is largely immature, ham-fisted and self defeating with overconfidence in what you perceive to be the absence of proof (which you yourself have no proofs or even evidence to validate the precedence of such a claim in the first place) is mentally unstable at best.

To be skeptical of our current infantile understanding of the Universe is fine.

To flat out claim everything we know is false because you can't test quantum laws or space theories in your basement isn't.
>>
>>17674573
>tldr: I don't even know what string theory is
Look nigger I am not an idiot, I understand that scientific method is the best we have currently, and that on balance it is almost infinitely more likely that space exists that a big screen or other retarded notion.
This is just got sad after your last post, if you are gonna tangle with the trolls, at least fucking open a book. It is not fine to be skeptical of our current universe, and experiments do exist which can prove quantum mechanics to a large degree.
Maybe get a qualification before engaging in this kind of roleplay mate.
>>
>>17674554
We must assume everything we currently know to be true and make adjustments as new evidence, theories or facts come to light. Much of what we currently believe about space may someday have to be thrown completely out the window as we discover and learn more about our Universe and what these inexplicable phenomena really are. However following your logic space isn't even worth worrying about, ever, because we don't have the means of verifying everything beyond the absolute reason of doubt. Your argument is nothing less than asking science to give up and never reach for an understanding of anything beyond what is immediately right in front of you.
>>
>>17674579
String theory has been largely thrown out as hokum by much of the scientific community and only ever really got any traction with laymen who found the term interesting.

Also, by all means provide some proofs of those experiments to validate your claims that everything beyond our solar system is false.

That's not a void, it's a dark nebula much smaller than a galaxy.

No. Firstly the Cold Spot is not in Bootes, it's on the other side of the sky in Eridanus. People went looking for the void because of the Cold Spot not the other way around. It's not a lower temperature in that region of space, it's a lower CMB temperature in that direction which some suggested could be the imprint of a larger void via the ISW effect. No one is suggesting anything is being absorbed, that doesn't really happen at microwave frequencies. Szapudi's void was 14% under-dense, not almost zero. Most (~80%) of the galaxies you would expect are there. Kovacs void is larger but not deeper.

I actually work on the Cold Spot and they're both probably wrong. Better data indicates problems with the way Szapudi normalized his data. There is a void but it is much smaller than claimed by others.

That third video is insane and full of rubbish. As said the Bootes void is completely unrelated with the Cold Spot. He's also claiming there are 60 galaxies when there should have been thousands, that's not true. It's clearly in the very tail of the redshift survey. You can see how few galaxies are selected around it.

Fix this for you

The Eridanus Super Void (WMAP Cold Spot)
In 2004 scientists discovered a cold spot within the Eridanus constellation that defied the standard cosmological model using cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation detected with the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe. The phenomenon was initially speculated to be fluctuations in cosmic radiation, a cosmic “texture” left over from the phase transition of the early Universe or even instrument error, but in 2009 Hawaiian based UK scientists confirmed that the Cold Spot was in fact real and statistically most likely the product of a Cosmic Void which would account for the temperature discrepancy due to the Sachs-Wolfe effect and could be detected by counting the number of galaxies in that part of sky. In 2015 a study confirmed this announcing the existence of a Super Void roughly 1.8 billion light years across and 10 billion light years from Earth within this region of the southern hemisphere making it the largest observed object in the universe. However, a Void would still only account for 10% of the observed temperature discrepancy in the WMAP Cold Spot and no conclusive correlation between these two phenomena has ever been established prior to these findings. Still scientists argue that the correlation is too profound to ignore.
>>
>>17674368

schizopleasego
>>
>>17677497
(con't)

Another more radical theory championed by Laura Mersini-Houghton suggests that the cold spot may be an imprint of another universe, a form of quantum entanglement which would have occurred prior to its separation from our own during the brief period of “inflation” following the Big Bang. Interestingly if this hypothesis holds up it would not only lend credence to String Theory, but also require the existence of a "mirror" Cold Spot in the opposing hemisphere. Strangely enough, such a Cold Spot was in fact detected in the Northern Hemisphere of similar size and characteristics to that of its WMAP counterpart in 2009 though no consensus has been reached within the scientific community as to the ramifications of these findings.

Lawrence Rudnick and his team have postulated that the cold spot could in fact be a Black Hole equivalent in mass to the Universe itself and that the gravitational effects of such phenomena at the edge of the visible Universe may be the force responsible for its expansion rather than hypothetical “Dark Energy”.
