Complaining is just pointless and shitty. But to misread, complain, not post anything yourself, and insult someone - while you're supposedly "old" - thought I'd show 'em, you know?

I know right? exactly why I saved it. Didn't think I'd be posting it in a 'ylyl' type thread on /x/, but it seemed appropriate as a reply...
I think the 'nervous' or whatever it is off-putting about it comes from us wanting to create order out of chaos in the world - it's a perfect reason to measure things. But measuring everything in nature doesn't give us any real control over it. We can know almost everything but still not understand it. Nature is ordered and balanced and perfect, but it still brings "chaos" to our lives. At least that's about all I can stand to think before I shiver and try to forget about the damn pic.
your little alien laying back and thinking reaction pic is perfect.

See the way I looked at it was trying to bring about our own imperfect order to perfect chaos; to something that doesn't need it.

We killed that tree to make it what we perceived as "correct" even though it is detrimental to the tree itself. Like different filters on the camera, some of see that as proper, or some see that as wrong.

Apollo 18. The movie, not the TMBG album. Though you should listen to that, too. Even though it's not really spooky. Well, the "Fingertips" series is, sort of, but only if you get an iPod classic with 120GB and fill it to like 90% capacity with every discography you've ever been interested in whatsoever, and the little 5-second snippits come on at various moments, months apart from each other, and you're like "what - oh, yeah. Apollo 18." What was I just talking about?

I'm impressed and horrified at the same time. He could really milk the furry community for this, but it makes me wonder if any of them are actually able to scrape together the insane price he's asking for these.

Hot day, July sixth, 2007, itโ€™s about 4:30 pm.

Iโ€™m just wondering what the heck is in our water supply, what the heck is in our oxygen supply of the metallic oxide salts that create a rainbow effect in a sprinkler.

What is oozing out of our ground? That allows this type of effect to happen.

Not just around our sun and our moon anymore, everywhere we look the visible spectrum is rainbows.

This cannot be natural, we all know that wasnโ€™t somethinโ€™ that happened twenty years ago but now itโ€™s happeninโ€™ now.

We as a nation have got to ask ourselves, what the hell is going on?

What is oozing out of our ground?

I'll give you a break, just because I remember Elvira, and I'm old enough to run for president, and because image searching the original post didn't reveal any info on the character.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvira's_Movie_Macabre

>The Elvira character rapidly gained notoriety with her tight-fitting, low-cut black gown which showed ample cleavage. The movies featured on Elvira's Movie Macabre were always B-grade (or lower). Elvira reclined on a red Victorian couch, introducing and often interrupting the movie to lampoon the actors, the script, and the editing. Adopting the flippant tone of a California "Valley girl", she brought a satirical, sarcastic edge to her commentary. She reveled in dropping risquรฉ double entendres and making frequent jokes about her display of cleavage.. Her campy humor, sex appeal, and good-natured self-mockery made her popular with late-night movie viewers, and her popularity soared.

>Elvira was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and other talk shows. She also produced a long-running series of Halloween-themed television commercials for Coors Light Beer and Mug Root Beer (her trademark cleavage was concealed for the Coors campaign). She appeared in guest roles on television dramas such

>The Elvira character rapidly evolved from obscure cult figure to a lucrative brand name and "Mistress of all Media", spawning many products throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Halloween costumes, comic books, action figures, trading cards, pinball machines, Halloween decor, model kits, calendars, perfume, and dolls. She has appeared on the cover of Femme Fatales magazine five times. Her popularity reached its zenith with the release of the feature film Elvira, Mistress of the Dark in 1988.

Cool, people ALWAYS post a comment when they DON'T like something!

I liked these a lot, too. It was great to find them- since the last "YLYL - /x/ version" thread, I'd been searching in different spots all over the net looking for new content (and man, do you have to wade through a bunch of shit before you find something decent). Those I found through searching some reddit group after I'd already posted most of what I had in this thread. Got 'em up as soon as I found them.

np, I realized when I looked up her info that while I remembered Elvira from growing up in the 80's and 90's, I didn't actually know how it was she came about. And I find it pretty interesting that there was an icon, so to speak, in those days that was so recognizable and popular AND completely /x/-tier. I mean, I'm sure Halloween was the biggest time of year for her work-wise, but she was just another pop culture figure then, who just happened to be a "spooky" lady.

I tried to think of someone or something that we've had in society since then, and I really couldn't think of one. I mean, we certainly don't have one now and haven't had any recent ones.

Maybe the crypt keeper guy from Tales from the Crypt was similar. I never watched that show, but I knew his face and that it scared the piss out of me when I was young. Further back, there was Hitchcock Presents and The Twilight Zone - but no real 'character' like Elvira for those. The only other person I thought of was Vincent Price (who I became aware of as he was the spoken voice on Michael Jackson's song "Thriller".)

anyway, some spooky food for thought for you. maybe someday /x/ will come up with a new "Elvira" for the modern day.

Neckbeards aren't actually smart, they're just basement losers pretending to be smart

The true neckbeard would have ubuntu. And absolutely no fucking idea what to do with it, so they only dual boot

But they tell everyone they use linux

And then they go on /x/. And try to show how smart they are by inserting logic and science into a discussion that is supposed to suspend disbelief.

Because that is the neckbeard way
>>
>>17699514
I can understand having logic on /x/, new rules and like any fantasy it is always better if the story is valid. Applying science sparingly and in a way that supports the suspension of disbelief can add to a story, take a look at how it is done with people who believe in free certain free energy machines -- some certainly are deluding themselves or trying to sell some worthless product -- and most of the time the science adds to the internal logic.

not that anon, but your post made me think of this recent find of mine, where science applied to fantasy was used the opposite of sparingly. and the science is not at all logical.
I'll paste the link, but be forewarned - attempting to read and understand this is headache-inducing. wear cringe protection if you have any. prepare your "WTF" face.

http://www.teachinghearts.org/dre17httscience.html

here are some choice quotes, that stood out to me:

>Religion is simply the scientific laws that govern the spiritual or interpersonal relationships which are defined as morality and ethics.
>God implies that breaking these laws brings a definite and predictable series of events as a consequence. In the same way, splitting an atom is based on definite laws causing a series of predictable consequences.

>The struggle between religion and science is related to applied science, science ethics and the erroneous claim that evolution is no longer a theory but a law.
>Scientists categorize religious evidence negatively as "only an analogy". This implies that analogies are worthless.

>Physics. Even the almighty physicists use analogies. In searching for the "Higg's Boson" they claimed to have found it but in reading the articles they claim to have found the equivalent of the "foot prints of a dinosaur" but not the dinosaur.

>Sorry to say, based on the Mishkan model they have not found the source of mass. They might have found a heavy particle that causes inertia which I have known about since 2009 and can describe its twin structure in fermions and 2 different forms in the Z boson.
>This is a case of desperate scientists using the minimum amount of points of comparison. Paleontologists constantly make untrue claims about finding missing links. It is just surprising to see physicists resort to this desperation.

kek. just looked up that comic. seems that it must have been made by some doctor who likes to draw, dropped some acid one day and made a comic.
>>
>>17701417
ok, those weren't the best quotes, but I ran out of characters quickly... the thing is, it's admirable, actually, to take on this subject. I respect that a religious person is attempting these arguments, or explanations or whatever.

people -should- spend time thinking about 'why are we here' whether they have a religious slant on their views or not.

And this author takes it SO far it's just nuts. there are so many links there to read in depth about just how far. and they're SO SURE that they're right while getting so much unfortunately very wrong....

BUT - this person is just SO SO SURE that they've got it undeniably RIGHT.
>>
>>17701448
Forget that first link I pasted. This one is just gloriously ridiculous.
>he process begins with God. He is covered in light and He speaks all creation into existence by using certain frequencies to compact and organize light into matter. Everything is based on electromagnetic waves so this is a plausible theory.

Light. In the first 12 hours the light from God is absorbed in a process that produces the subatomic particles.
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain: (Psalm 104: 2)
Light as we know it appears like a particle and a wave. When God spoke, the uninterrupted light from Him was mixed with the sound waves of His voice. This intermingling (transection) of light and sound produced our broken and bent light particles. This means that light has the same construction as the sanctuary and the genes during replication. The southern end is continuous and the northern is broken like the Okazaki fragments.
In the center (the Most Holy Place), when sound interacted with light color and life came forth. The bending of the light produced the colors of the rainbow. This means that at this point the light was passing through a different medium. This model also has Jesus in the same position at the west wall in the other physical models. Here He is the Word of God who created.
>>
>>17701450
again, I have respect for this passion (it's overwhelming, how much work this person has done) and I think it's a worthy sort of task. not many people spend any time doing this kind of 'deep thinking'
He just needs to work with some nice scientists who could attempt to reach harmony where he's trying to connect things and give him feedback...

>Granite and Polonium Halos. Retrofitting is the process of adding either a component or accessory to something that did not have it when manufactured.
> ยป Supersaturation. When God reached the saturation point, God added Polonium and possibly other catalysts to suddenly crystallize other rock formations. If you have ever seen how quickly copper sulphate crystals form, you can understand that crystals can form quickly out of a suspension with the right catalyst and concentration of elements at a stage called the saturation point.
>The rocks and dirt were formed quickly like crystals. Dr. Robert Gentry has demonstrated with Polonium halos that granite rock was formed in about three minutes. Polonium is radioactive with a half life of 3 minutes. Yet the granite has trapped the decaying polonium halo in its structure. If granite had crystallized any slower than 3 minutes then the polonium halos would not be present.
>Polonium was created on the sixth day. Since polonium halos are trapped in the solid granite rock, then the granite must have remained in its molten form between the third and sixth day collecting new elements in its structure before it suddenly crystallized. This is how the molten granite incorporated K, Ca and all the other trace elements after period 3 in its structure. So it may be possible that polonium or another element in the sixth period is the catalyst that triggered the crystallization.
