Alright, guys, I have a question and I have nowhere else to turn to ask it. I know for a fact that there are covens of witches all around the world. However, I know almost nothing about them, and I would like to know whatever anyone call tell me. Does anyone have experiences with them? What specifically do these covens do? What are their beliefs? Are they all part of a larger group with lower level sects or are they independent? Things of that nature. Just whatever anyone knows, please share, so that we may all be a little more enlightened.
>>
>>17668293
Modern witches don't look like that. They're fat blue-haired lesbians.
>>
>>17668293
Witches practice magick. There are countless types of witchs; pagan, green witches, sea witches, swamp witches, etc. Very few worship satan. Wicca is different from witchcraft. Men can be witches. Witches used to be cool but now they're just the SJWs of the magick world
>>
There are all kinds of witches. I'll give you one kind. Wiccans are hippie witches basically.. they don't hurt people or anything, they revere nature and peace, etc. They're the most common you might hear about. Their beliefs haven't been around for that long, though some are under the misconception that wicca is thousands of years old

Fair enough. I had interpreted this as a sincere misunderstanding on your part. I did not realize you were just aiming to pointlessly split hairs over the use of a particular word despite you and everyone else in the thread knowing full well what OP was saying. You failed in your aims, anyway, apparently not realizing that he said *"almost* nothing", despite quoting the line yourself.

I am not even that anon.
Also, almost nothing is not equivalent with something. Otherwise OP would have said something, and this is implied as clearly less than something.
He, and you, were both wrong, in that he clearly does know something, not nearly nothing as he first assumed.
In future don't feed the trolls. That anon may have had his own meaning to whatever he said, but from this pedantic perspective he was right.
>>
>>17670465
"Almost nothing" is always, with no exceptions, equivalent to "something". I would like you to TRY to explain, in as precise terms as possible, how you figure otherwise.

21KB, 275x275px
>>17670477
In your terms then, with almost nothing being equivalent to something, then what, pray, is equivalent to almost something?
As now, almost nothing, is of a greater value than almost something, which means that the halfway point between the value of nothing, and something, is now greater than almost something, but less than almost nothing.
As numerically I am stating that 0= nothing, 1= something, 0.25=almost nothing, and 0.75= almost something, and so by your reasoning, 0.25(almost nothing)=1(something) which would mean that 0.25(almost nothing)>0.75(almost something) and 0.5(neither nothing nor something).
Kekmate my friend. Maths has already explained this to us, there is an infinite range between any two values.
Continue, please.

Ended up living with my Dad and after hanging with a new crowd of people after a depression These new friends where really pushing for that power of one/the secret and bit of substance abuse I spent my 5/6 months in a ward where I turned 18. Fucking really?
This is what I get for trying to start a thread dedicated to the sharing of knowledge?

Fine. And for the record, almost nothing is still equivalent to something. Almost something, by the same token, is still equivalent to nothing. Do not let the shitty example the Anon with the Eva Green pic gave confuse you. 0 = nothing. 1, while equaling something, is not the minimum requirement for something. Something equals anything greater than 0. Ergo, almost nothing, which could equal 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 is still something. Almost something on the other hand, still equals 0. So, if you are going to obsess with grammar, and especially if you are going to try and back it up with math, at least be fucking right about it.
Jesus Fucking Christ, people.

Read a book bitch. Don't let anyone convince you that there are no witches who can fly, throw fireballs, turn invisible, teleport, remote view.
>>
"Magic" is a blanket term for things people don't understand. If someone could shoot fireballs out of their hands and could explain it scientifically it wouldn't be called magic or spell craft and anyone referring to it as such would sound like a backwoods retard.
>>
Basically what you call magic is no more special than selling insurance to the elderly. When you actually learn about it and what it is it becomes less of the transmundane and more mundane.

If you're smart enough and have the resources to gather what you need for a "spell" then you are probably smart enough and have the resources to achieve the same goal with a lot less.

My poor dim friend, as soon as the value that was refered to as "almost nothing" becomes "something" then another value becomes "almost nothing".
The terms cannot be used interchangeably.
It is pretty easy to prove this logically mate, and I did above, a proof which you will find if you ever open a book on calculus.
If 1 is something, and 0 is nothing, it is the same as of 0.1 is something and 0 is nothing, there will still be a value halfway between that, and then in the lower half there must exist a value termed as "amost nothing", however as soon as this becomes "something" another value will take it's place as "almost nothing".

Although this was meant entirly as a jest. It actually hits incredibly close to the mark. For the most part, magic IS insurance.

People who say, 'You shouldn't do magic you should just go out and do it' are fucking retards that completely miss the entire point. No-one cast harvest spells without planting seeds. Nobody beseached the gods for success in battle and then left their weapons behind.

Magic is about insuring success against those parts of life which we have no control over. It is always done in combination with practical efforts. It is about ensuring success IN THOSE practical endeavours.

The fact that so many of you, on both sides, fail to grasp this incredibly simple concept. Isnt that surprising actually, it took me awhile.

> This is what I get for trying to start a thread dedicated to the sharing of knowledge?

Sharing of knwoledge about something that obviously most of us doesn't believe in to or sharing knowledge about something that doesn't exist ?

Event if there were real witches covens all around the world, they should be praticably hermetic to people like us ..

> Hey little lesbian girl, you lack the image of a father ? You hate your parents ? Come and join us, we'll make potions...

If there were coven, they'll not deliver information to anyone and made some black ops recruitment not like thos fuckin Golden Dawn or other wannabe mystics... Adept recruitment in "Secret Society" were made in upper classes for only one reason : Money ... Those societies were anything but secret ...

> Share knowledge ...

Now think about it... There's some witches covens around the world... Maybe some of us are part of these covens... Do you really think it's ok for witches to let anyone from the coven bragging about it on /x/ ? Giving informations about them ? Sharing knowledge of any sort ? I don't think so..

>>
I guess some of the females in my father side of the family could be considered a "coven." I'm part of it. (Forgive my English throughout this, please)

We're all practitioners of Shinto belief system. Very traditional family. It is not religion but base on deep lore and folktale. There are higher spirits and lower spirits, like everyone has heard of Inari and Amaterasu. Everything has spirit. That is our belief.

Women in family who choose to do so/have ability are connected by our belief and live as "fox witch"- kitsune-tsukai. This mean we harness the spirit of kitsune in our working. We do traditional craft, not like Wicca or new age thing.

We celebrate holiday important to our culture and cast "spell" and do ritual when there is something we all concerned about. I practice more on my own for personal need, but do spell with them too. However I prefer think of myself as a solo practitioner, because family is not very active and I find I work nicely alone.

I have not interact with other any kitsune tsukai besides women in my family, but they are popular in myth.
>>
>>17676162
Why are you retarded? Did you mother hit you in the head with a math book repeatedly as a child and yell at you constantly while doing it, "This will make you math, Boy!"
Nothing = zero.
Something equals literally everything greater than zero.
Do you think that "almost nothing" equals zero?
No?
Then it must be greater than zero. No matter how infinity small it gets, it will still ALWAYS be greater than zero, which is, funnily enough, within the range that is defined as "something."
No, the words are not interchangeable, as you say, because you cannot claim that all rectangles are squares, but you can go fuck yourself if you want to claim that not all squares are rectangles.
Something does not always equal "almost nothing," just as the square root of 49 only equals 7 50% of the time, but "almost nothing" will ALWAYS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, equal something, just as -7 will ALWAYS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, equal the square root of 49.
>>
>>17679208
Nice, are the kitsune tsukai an outside spirit someone channels, or more of a role they fill?
>>
>>17679286
I don't think numbers work that way. (-7) x (-7) will always be 49. But the square root of 49 will not ALWAYS be -7. Just like your square/rectangle analogy.

Did you read what I said? That is literally what my point is. -7 will always be the square root of 49, but the square root of 49 will not always be -7.

Here you go.
Do you see now?
Almost Nothing and Something are on the same line, with the only difference being that Something has no upper limit and Almost Nothing does.
Their lower limits are the same.
∞ = ∞
∞/2 = ∞
Almost Nothing is a square.
Something is a rectangle.
A square will always be a rectangle.
Almost Nothing will always be Something.
Can you just stahp now, pls?

No my nigger, I have a degree.
The value assigned as "almost nothing" is capable of being re-assigned as "something", however the moment you do that, another value becomes "almost nothing".
A value cannot be "almost nothing" and "something" at the same time, any more than it can be "largely false", and "true" at the same time.
Use the number line to prove this to yourself, by assigning boolean values to something and nothing, and then working out where to place the other terms.
This has been proven centuries ago my man.
Also, I never said that almost nothing is nothing, I said it is not equivalent to whatever you have termed as something, inherently.

>this fucking graph
Holy kek anon, I almost thought you had a brain for a minute there.
Where do you fit "almost something" and "neither nothing nor something" on your graph mate?
As if you acknowledge the existence of the term "almost nothing" then it's sisters must have a place on your graph, correct?
I also like how you left the y-axis totally unlabeled, and then definied anything below 0.5 as almost nothing, as that would mean a lot of measurements we take today can be simlified as, almost nothing. Fucking brilliant.

Interesting question, kitsune themselves is more of a group of outside spirits we channel when we need. However, as kitsune tsukai, fox witch, we embody spirit of family kitsune ourselves. I hope makes sense!
