I had mixed feelings about it.

On one hand I'm a big fan. RAW is the shit. He really dove into this stuff, integrated all modern occult and new age philosophy, and in this magnum opus brought it all together. Elegantly done, he never topped it.

And for an occult and conspiracy nut he was FUN! I mean just real good times.

But on the other hand... he died broke as fuck asking for handouts from the Internet to support his hospice care. And if that's how you end up going out, then what the fuck was all this shit for? Doesn't that prove that it doesn't add up to jack shit? Yoga and meditation and all the fucking magic in the WORLD and he died broke before he even hit 75.

Read it in my teenage years. Was a fun intro to the occult. It gave me a way to look at it that didn't seem superstitious and appealed to my modern skeptical sensibilities. It helped me separate my own sense of self and drives from my cultural programming which was nice. Long story short its a good way to start. But if you think RAW's presentation of occultism as all psychology and quantum whatsits is correct you're wrong. Anyone I've known who has gotten anywhere with the occult were old school renaissance to Greco-Egyptian or initiated in some sort of African Diaspora religion. It's not all a bunch of "jungian archetypes" There's something on the other side paying attention waiting for the rites to be preformed.
