90+% of the "scary" and "weird" videos posted on /x/ are just bad, artsy-videos which are neither scary, nor weird, since it's just a produced piece of junk.

The same goes for alantutorial, it's a guy playing a character, acting like an ass, and for some dumb reason it mesmerizes some dummies on here.

Give me a video where something genuinely unforeseen happens any day of the week over the bad, liberal arts videos that gets posted on here daily.

i do have an issue with the alantutorial part of your thing. if you watch every video in order, the series acts as a genuinely great allegory for the process of a content creator which is self aware that the videos alan is making at first are just weird.
there's a good video summarizing the project, but it's an hour long. you'd be able to find it easy if you want to see it, but just know that thought did go into that project.

plus, the guy who made it is a real performance artist and writer who has worked on several projects with adult swim like this house has people in it and unedited footage of a bear. this channel was a side project for him.
those works, regardless of if those are good or not (which they are btw), show he enjoys telling real messages and stories through strange metaphor. i see no reason why alantutorial would be any different.

Honestly salad fingers is one of Firth's weaker works, Three Skins Without Men is one of the best things I've seen in a long time. He also has great taste in music, he uses Boards Of Canada and Aphex Twin a lot in his videos.
