Not really a conspiracy but I think they were hemorrhaging members with their pope looking like a sith lord.

Also I'm not the kind of guy to get vibes or believe in God, but even I thought there was something off about him.

Before being ejected pope, his job in the Vatican was reviewing all the crazy and terrible shit other preists, cardinals, nuns ect did. He basically had dirt on the entire religion. He was sickened and torn over all the shit he saw and how it was dealt with, and he was partly responsible for how things were dealt with.

He didn’t “retire”. Basically Jesuits pushed him out as a result of an internal power struggle and finally managed to get their guy in. The provision under which Benedict “retired” dates back to the 1500’s , and he still wears the Pope’s whites while there is another Pope in office, which also hasn’t happened in more than 5 centuries.

The whole ordeal reeks of takeover if you consider it a bit longer than a passing news story.
