Christianity believes in God and Jesus because they need something to be there after death, so that their life meant something. They need to have some reason to be accountable for their actions in life, otherwise, what is the point of living?

Religion is very much about explaining things we don't know. A lot of people are atheistic, or do not abide by religion, yet, they still live life based on emotional principals, or based on their own morals.

Some people don't need a set of scripture to tell them how to live. some people just live on the principals of Action and Concequence; good and bad; right and wrong.

Society will not go 'astray', or become more 'evil' due to the lack of religion. Society will remain the same, and look for answers in a more scientific, and realistic way.

as for edgy I prefer the term realist, though we are all free of our own opinions.

I merely said religion was used as a vice to keep people in the "good" and that this is coming to a point where it is no longer needed, due to the expansion of human consciousness/technology.
