Ningen is supposedly a large white humanoid creature that inhabits oceanic waters near Japan. It is similar to giant seadwelling mythological Japanese creature whose name I can't recall. Funnily enough it's not actually a popular cryptic in Japan, and has been apparently invented by Westerners.

I think there's a picture taken by the US Navy that lends credence to the whole myth, both other than that all pictures of Ningen online are clear fabrications or illustrations.
