Had group of friends who generally like /spooky/ and wanted good creepy pasta. Only one of them committed to reading it and stopped at the part where he first gets past the squeeze "because too drawn out". The rest said it was too long and didn't read. Had to fucking find a narrated version on YouTube fit them to finally read it or at least understand the story. They've been spoiled by shit pasta and quick ghost stories.

Also did you know this got a film made of it? It's been in limbo for a few years, can only find a trailer on YouTube, would like to see the whole thing but seems unlikely at this point.

A couple years ago I came across this thread with a guy who found some unsettling videos on his father's harddrive. He was really freaked out because his dad had never mentioned anything about freaky shit like that before.

Seen? Overlaps with reading here, but some warning video in the style of a weather alert about a monster or something that was the first video in the thread. It would tell you things like "Don't look at the ceiling", then never explain why exactly.

If not that due to the text, there was this video created I think for /x/ years ago called brokenscreenavi that looked all black and red with I think the face of some weird monster in it. The monster, assuming that was it would appear only briefly with a creepy face, like with black eyes and somethink akin to an anteater's snout or snake's tongue.

There was also footage from some movie that came out I think a few years ago detailing visions that made a man insane that were basically a look into Hell. Really creepy shit that seemed straight out of Bekinski's stuff. I think it's called Beyond the Black Rainbow.

Read? If not that, nothing really struck me as scary. The closest thing to scary I've seen is Normal Porn for Normal People; something about the way no one could identify where one of the videos was messed with me in a way nothing else really did. A bit of backstory:

The Kasern I was stationed at was one of four outside of the Bavarian City of Schweinfurt. Schweinfurt's economy is mostly factory and tech, as it was in the first half of the 20th century. It was considered a major Allied strategic target for bombing raids because of the factories that manufactured ball bearings used in artillery pieces and armored vehicles (including the Panzer tank).

Fittingly, all of the Kaserns US Army personnel were stationed at when I was there (2009-2011), were refurbished German barracks from WWII. The Kasern I lived on, Conn Barracks, housed Luftwaffe elements as well as several field hospitals during WWII. It had a slew of underground tunnels, and was routinely flooded during WWII to disrupt recon photography from overhead. Even so, it was nearly leveled by bombing raids, and the German military units there suffered heavy casualties.

When I hit the ground in Deutschland in 2009, Conn Barracks had a reputation for unexplained phenomenon, and Ghost sightings. Rumors of buildings being closed by previous post commanders for "morale reasons" were common. The most famous had to do with soldiers having lucid dreams of waking in the barracks rooms surrounded by German doctors as they bled for amputated arms or legs, or being awakened to the sounds of the Gestapo kicking their doors down.

I had done a tour in Iraq prior to coming down on orders for Germany, and was extremely excited to finally settle in when I reached my room on the third floor of building 92, Conn Barracks.

I arrived late, and was billeted on the only occupied room of the third floor. My roomate was an ex firefighter from Pennsylvania, but was working the graveyard shift on patrol (Military Police). The floors in the upstairs floors were entirely blue tile, and our room was the same. Two wooden cabinets that served as closets for clothing, two twin beds pushed longways against a far wall, and a bathroom. The room also perpetually stunk of my room mates feet. I chose the unoccupied bed, threw my belongings into a corner, and turned in for the night.

CQ is a 24 hour duty, and two soldiers constantly sit at the desk, monitoring who from the platoon comes and goes- usually watching DVDs or snoozing when nobody of merrit is around. I ask about my roommate- he's still on patrol from the night before. I ask if they heard anybody come up the the third floor that morning, and they both shrug. One of my new Platoon mates makes an offhand comment about "meeting the resident ghost," but I don't take it too seriously. Everybody is pretty nonchalant about it, even as I tell my story. People are constantly in and out of the building, and we are a satellite platoon with no real "brass" to knock us into shape, so German girls are constantly being snuck outside of the fire escape and first floor Windows when it's more convenient. They assure me it was probably my room mate who came by to take a shit on shift, or to pick up a phone charger. I agree, and continue out the door.

This is the first story of at least a half-dozen good ones I have, and it was before I knew anything about the history of the bridling, or run ins other soldiers had encountered. I can maybe do one more if anybody is still interested.
