Who here collects occult/pagan/religious/new age/fantasy stuff?

I've got so much stuff my room is overflowing. Books, tarot, figurines, wands, stones, unusual items, talismans, pendulums, divination mirrors, crystal balls, altar tables, candles, incense, chests of herbs, etc. I have no idea why I am so drawn to these types of items.

Anybody else attracted to or collect these types of things?
>>
>>17378055
I love that sort of stuff. Don't have much of a collection yet though. Currently my gasmask collection outweighs my occult collection by a substantial factor.
>>
>>17378107
I think that's cool. I would consider gas masks an "unusual" and kindly creepyish type of thing to collect. The kid gas masks are the creepiest to me.

I collect weird stuff like you and OP. I've always liked unusual and mysterious stuff. I have a vintage priests last rite case/kit that I think is pretty cool, and quite a few "haunted" pieces. I've never noticed activity from them. However I do have a moonstone necklace that was purchased from a pagan priestess estate sale and whenever I try to wear it I get physically ill. I keep it boxed up in my room and rarely mess with that piece.
>>
>>17378055
wtf just throw that away man
this shit is magnetized with negative stuff
and its gonna attract negative stuff
so be careful with your thoughts and actions because they can affect you easily if ur not always present and careful
>>
>>17378162

No way would I ever just throw this stuff away. I've collected for many years. One day I may sell some of it or if the right person comes along, give some things away.

It's ok though, man. My intentions are good and I'm not afraid. I'm drawn to these types of things and when they cross my path I get them if I am able
to do so. I keep my stronger items in chests and not on display...for more than 1 reason.

Occasionally I pull them out, but I don't fuck around with dark magick or make jokes about it. I have respect for everything that I have collected thus far and I think that makes a big difference. I don't treat these things like toys. Yes, occasionally I use them but I know what I'm doing and never venture beyond my current level of understanding.
>>
>>17378055
Would you show us some pictures of interesting things in your collection?

I knew a friend that was friends with this woman. She was moving and getting rid of some of her things.

This pic shows some of my vintage candle holders. I've collected these for years. Some have been very hard to find. They were made by a man named Jason Christoble during the late 70's and 80's...they are called Matchless Grove and made from something called Wynshire clay. You put candles inside and the eyes glow ( there are glass)

I have a book about the adventures of the "matchless grove." He designed many of these. Mostly tree folk, goddess, gypsies, dragons, skulls, owls, warlocks, gargoyles, and some science fiction type ones that I have yet to acquire. I have quite a few and some figures are becoming increasingly rare and hard to find.

Final Picture

This wand was bought at the same
Private estate sale about 10 yrs ago. It's one of my favorite pieces. The picture doesn't do it any justice as it is very beautiful In person. It's totally handmade by pagan priest and was also charged and consecrated by a coven. It's copper, glass, crystal, and turquoise.
>>
>>17378308
What do you consider your most rare or noteworthy piece of your collection?

My spooky occult collection consists of a crystal ball, a set of elder FUThARK runes that I made, some miscellaneous mineral crystals, a brass urn with hadji writing given to me by a friend, an iron incense burner I forged, an athamae I also forged, and a money toad that looks after my scrill. I guess my paranormal investigation equipment might also fall into this category, though I don't really consider it as such.
Also my most rare gasmask is a U.S. M-45 size small in lefty configuration.

that's really cool, thanks for sharing!
does your cauldron have a spooky history?
>>
>>17378592
Yeah, even though it's not really old it's still pretty cool to read through. There's about 300 or so pages in there. Some parts are like a diary of sorts. I'm pretty careful with it and don't let others mess with it much. I just don't want to be disrespectful to the original owner so that's why I'm not posting many pics of the pages in there.
>>
>>17378645
I had a few displayed, but recently moved and haven't found a good spot for them yet.
>>
>>17378650
No, lol, not that I know of. I wish it did have a spooky history though.

Its just a really old, cool looking cauldron that I bought at an estate sale. It has a weird pitchfork design on it that made me want it so bad. One of these days I'll find somewhere to put it so I can enjoy it.

I love this sort of thing. One day when I get my own house I'm going to dedicate a room to be a cabinet of curiosities, but for now all I have are mainly things I've made myself. There's not a lot of mystique to this stuff now but I think a few of my pieces might have heirloom potential.

This isn't necessarily the best example but I lost a bunch of pics when my HDD died.
>>
>>17378755
Get one of their cheaper spelled or haunted items to try out before you drop 600 on a haunted/spelled doll.

There is a lot of fakery in the paranormal field. I'm not saying these people are fake, just try them out with a smaller item first.

>You should sell your work.
everyone says that, but it's very difficult to find anyone willing to pay as much as a piece is worth from labor alone. Even at $10 an hour that mask would be around $350 not counting materials, but every professional artisan insists that you should never sell for less than $25/hour. That's why you don't see many pieces like these around.
>>
>>17378870
Well, I hope you find a place to sell because people WILL/DO buy that kind of art. You just have to find the right market. Don't sell yourself short. Sell it for what it's worth.

Have you taken it to any places to try to market it? Even etsy or eBay could work.

I've seen people dish out thousands for handmade renfaire costumes. This is right up their alley. Your very talented.

4MB, 4608x3456px
>>17378905
The other thing is that I tend to only make stuff that I want to have and I very rarely make the same things twice, to sell or otherwise. It's a possibility though. I just know from my several years of visiting multiple renfaires that big or unique pieces like these can take several years to move. There's a titanium scale shirt that's been hanging in a shop in Missouri for at least 5 years, for example. That being said I do know of a handful of $1000+ pieces that have sold eventually so it's not impossible.

I wouldn't call it an exorcist case. It was used for sick calls and last rites for those dying. The silver things on the side are candleholders attached to the inside of the box. There is a crucifix mounted on the inside, a communion plate( I think) and a holy water bottle. There is also a booklet and some kind of handkerchief inside.

The outiside of the box has a gilded cross on it. It's pretty old. I took all the candles out of it because they were so Mis-shapen

This is the necklace. I don't want to touch it.

Seriously, I'm not lying, I don't feel well when I'm in the presence of it. I get palpations and somewhat sick to my stomach. I don't sense evil or anything. It's just a concentrated source of energy or something. I really don't know. I keep a rose quartz in the box with it.

As you can see the silver needs to be polished. Maybe one of these days it will allow me to handle it more.

I have other haunted items that I bought. They are nothing like this though. This piece is just different.
>>
>>17379186
>>17379209

So freaking cool. How did you get the priest box?
>>
>>17379218
My mother, who was also a collector of weird things, bought it somewhere a long time ago and later gave it to me. She always found the neatest stuff. She passed away about 9 years ago.

I don't really display it or anything but, I keep the box because it's neat and unusual and also because she gave it to me.
>>
>>17379160
There are a lot of ownership laws that can be a real pain in the ass but if they didn't exist then bad shit would run amok. Like Narwhal horns can be owned in Canada if they are accompanied by official documentation certifying that they were legally harvested by Inuit fishermen, but even with all the same documentation they're flat-out illegal in the USA.

>>17379151

>>
>>17381206
Raptor populations are considered protected in the US. Hawks, eagles, and of course owls can't be hunted legally so owning remains from them forces law enforcement to consider it poaching, basically. It's a real pain sometimes though because if you happen to find a single loose feather form a hawk lying around in a field or something you can't keep it (even though everyone does anyway, cops only care about whole birds usually).
>>
>>17381228
So even if the bird died of natural causes, it's illegal? Even owning a single feather?

Not that I want a bunch of dead animal carcasses in my house, I think that's gross, but just surprising that you can be hit with a fee that big for owning one.

I also have some "haunted" malachite Aztec warrior bookends.

They move around somehow. I put them back in place all the time. I'm not moving them and I'm here by myself. This pic shows how they usually sit before and then the next day after they have usually moved. I have no idea. But it's not BS. They move around somehow but I don't have an explanation for it. I like them a lot. They were given to me by my brother. I keep them on display on a shelf in my kitchen.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. That's neato. I've been a unofficial student of Thelema and traditional magick for a while now. I finally found a set of friends that I can discuss the stuff with. It's a very interesting bunch, with some people who aren't even into magick. We all share an interest in illumination though, so we have some in common. I would love to have the space for an occult book collection, but I have a lot of books already. Kind of sucks, but I can wait for the right time.

You ever come across one for a cheap or reasonable price, buy it. Even beat up copies can still manage to fetch a good amount with collectors. I bought my copy for about 15-20 bucks years ago. I recently had someone offer me $100 for it. I didn't sell it though.

Phallic and Yonic symbols and representations are very common on altars. The wand and athame are also considered phallic and represent the God.

Some examples of Goddess and yonic symbols are the bowls and chalices.

It just depends on the pantheon or what the altar is being used for.
In many pagan religions sexuality is sacred.

I say this with a straight face.

>spices, dried herbs and woods
>deadly/long term damage natural poisons (seeds etc)
>curios (insect parts, empty or full coccoons and chrysalis, fur and feathers of various animals)
>collection of incenses, a bunch of the handmade temple variety
>human hair from various clients/friends/family all labelled with name and birthday
>a set of elder futhark runes that are supposedly cursed, carved in large dark seeds
>various keys and locks
>various religious objects (roman catholic, buddhist, voodoo etc)
>collection of common, semi-precious and precious stones
>religious jewelry (24k gold egypt symbols, elemental based fine jewelry, crosses)
>pet cats (lel jk)
>some generally weird items with supposed paranormal or violent activity (walking cane, grenadier hat, a metal part of sheep shears from a WW2 invaded farm, numerous spent bullet shells from a special ops commander)

I stopped collecting when I got married, my wife is terrified of paranormal stuff :p
>>
>>17381419
Ey, what's the metal round gnome looking thing on the right?
>>
>>17381269
Bird law in this country is not governed by reason.
>>
>>17406972
>>
>>17406711
Yes that was it. I liked it but I'm sure someone else likes it more. I was pretty impressed with the amount of detail. And Puff the Magic Dragon is an awesome song. I'm surprised he made such large items as the have a tendency to explode in a kiln. Nice collection there.
>>
Does anyone experience weird or unexplained things from these types of items? I would like to have a collection of occult stuff but I am afraid of negative energy.
>>
>>17409625
I despise energy model, but I have quartz crystal that, as I was convinced, was giving me bad luck every time I touched it and by bad luck I mean some really unfortunate things. So I still keep it hidden.
>>
>>17410392
What about used items bought at a thrift store or flea market? Is it true that you can get bad vibes from the people that owned them?
>>
>>17410408
I guess, if you are sensitive towards things like that. But you can always do some egzorcism/cleansing. Even washing it in running water may work.
>>
I work at a special needs clinic and I took this one grey blanket the only grey blanket that we had where 3 clients died using..think it has any usage? Im thinking of using it when I sleep. I haven't washed it since the last guy died.
>>
>>17409625
Stop believing that all" occult" items are bad and will bring negative energy to you. Understanding the symbolism behind what you are interested in collecting will help you dispel this belief. You are assigning the negative energy to the item by letting yourself believe that they will somehow bring you bad luck or negativity in your life. If the 'energy' of something in my collection is bothering me it's either packed up and put away for a time, sold, or given to someone that it may resonate with better. Don't let this belief hold you back from something you want to do.

>>17410408
Yes, sometimes this can happen. If I buy something used I always cleanse it before using it. I also don't buy things that give me 'bad'vibes.
>>
>>17410530
Uh, I would wash it before you used it unless You had some kind of connection with this this person.

After my mom passed away I kept her bath robe. It still smelled like her and for the longest time I would put this on whenever I was missing her real bad. It would make me feel like I was getting a big hug from her. This was years ago though.
>>
>>17409625
No, I Don't experience anything uniquely unusual, paranormal, supernatural, or negative. I keep my collection away from prying eyes and negative people more than anything else. I just treat my collection with respect if that makes any sense.
>>
>>17407338

>pics or it didn't happen
>>
>>17410530
Maybe. Wrap it around you, focus on these people, then use ouija and see what happens.

Thanks. I've been collecting his pieces for a long time. Currently looking for these. ( pic related) really hard to come by. These are some of the last designs Jason ever did. One of these days I will get them. I like to see myself finding them in a thrift shop or a garage sale.

I've got a shiva lingam that spins when left unattended on the same shelf as my statue of the Blessed Virgin.
>>
>>17412514
What do you mean "unattended?"

Like it moves when your not near it
>>
>>17413004
affirmative
>>
>>17413031
How do you know it moves? Just wondering.

Have you seen it or what. I don't understand. Tell story plz.
>>
I have a shitload of feathers because they always seem to be where I end up walking. (Including a massive peacock feather at the park--nobody keeps peacocks where I live, so that was weird.) I keep the ones that are in decent shape wrapped in silk.

Nothing else I acquire is generally spooky or even a little bit woo-y. The vast majority of my altar decoration is found and repurposed objects. Glass paperweights for scrying, little gaming table-turned-tarot table, stuff like that.
>>
>>17413116
lol its pretty simple. I placed the lingam on the shelf oriented like a minus sign, but when i came back later i noticed the orientation flipped 90 degrees. I'm not sure if it means that the virgin mary doesn't like penises, or that shiva doesn't like virgins.

I see what you did there.

Really? because I sure didn't!
I do now actually
got any spooky stuff?
>>
>>17416517
The ol' perv get that custom made?
>>
>>17417730
Thank you. Years and years of stuff. Many things I made, the herbs/plants/roots I either gather or grow them myself, sometimes purchase if necessary. Some things are gifts from close friends, some items I have made from hand. The essential oils are really the only thing I don't make on my own but everything on that altar has a purpose and meaning. I repurpose most things when I can. The altar area itself is made from 4 different large pieces of scrap furniture. It goes up higher than what I can fit into the picture. I keep it covered by a hanging, sheer curtain when not in use which serves many purposes.

>>17415268
Read up on it to get a better understanding. If you have any questions then post them and if I get off of work in time, I can try to answer them for you.

>>17399346
I usually use palo santo sticks. Yes I have recipes but that is too broad. Tell me what you have and I can try to help
You create a recipe.

>>17399443
I just saw this. Apologies, but I am not a huge fan of skyping. I Wish you well
>>
>>17417774
Spooky is kinda relative. I have a few things I've made myself that some might consider spooky or 'weird' but to me it's normal stuff and not spooky or weird at all.

For instance, I make ancestral offering plates out of dried funeral flowers and flour paste.
>>
>>17418624
Nah, I don't know where he got it from but I think it's from the early 70's. Maybe late 60s. Idk.

Anyway, you can search naked lady coin on eBay and get them there.

Anyone in this thread ever watch that show Oddities? There was one episode where they checked out some sort of witch's cauldron and outright refused to buy it because they thought it was super cursed or something.
>>
>>17420523
Cool. I never saw that episode. Maybe I can find it somewhere. I really enjoyed the show and would watch it when I was able. I remember some artist chick that came in looking to sell her stuff. She was making this really intricate art out of finger and toe nail cuttings.

Does it still come on?

Anytime I come across oddity shops I always go in and check their stuff out. It's such a mixed bag. You never know what your gonna find.
>>
>>17420536
That artist girl was a regular customer if I remember correctly. I don't know if it's still airing because I lost that channel a while back.
>>
>>17420548
I don't think it's on anymore.

>>17420021
Nope. They don't bring bad juju. At least my stuff doesn't. I don't know why it would scare you, there's nothing to be scared of.
>>
>>17420523
not a witches cauldron, it's an Nganga from Palo Mayombe.

That episode was bullshit by the way, zero research, no one bothered to contact an actual palo practitioner, complete slander.

>>
>>17419018

>>

Multiple uses and many purposes

Purification, establishing connections , cleansing, healing, inducing trance, dreams, and emotional states for journeying, ceremony, rituals, incense, teas, remedies, tinctures, salves, powders, etc.

I have 2 big antique vogueish framed magazine pictures of 1900's era models that I used to keep hanging up in a guest room. People that stay over are so spooked by them that we took them down. Everyone says the eyes follow them and the pictures make them uncomfortable. I have them stored away now but plan on hanging them somewhere else in my house because I just love the pictures.

Thanks. I wish I could find out what magazine they came from. The first picture is about 4 ft tall. I just have the hardest time imagining this giant catalog or magazine that people would go through. I looked on the back but no luck. I have no idea why they creep people out so much. I've never gotten a bad feeling from them. One guest said she would wake up in the middle of the night and feel like the girls were glaring at her. Lol. Maybe they are haunted and jealous of other women, idk. Lol

Here's the back
>>
>>17424128
I wouldn't mind be looked at by them, most likely they're just jealous of the competition so they're trying to label them haunted. Don't get rid of them anon.

Not too /x/ related I guess, but my late grandfather was a diplomat in taiwan and China throughout the 60s-80s and has collected some of the coolest shit I have ever seen. He had the largest collection of chinese/taiwanese folk god carvings in North America, his house was chalk full of them. Each could be sold in a price range from hundreds to thousands. He also amassed a collection of Chinese hell scrolls which are really fucking cool, which he donated to the smithonian and for several months they hung above the big elephent in the main room of the natural history museum in DC.

He wrote two books (pic related)
>>
>>17424238
if anyones interested i could talk more about some of his cool shit
>>
>>17424241
yes, tell us more plz
>>
>>17424238
Do you have any pics of his collection? Sounds really cool
>>
>>17421061
It's really not relevant to the thread, I don't want to derail much.
Long story short: It's not a witches cauldron, its an ancestor shrine/working tool.

The "expert" they talked to in the episode had a very biased opinion of palo much the same that everyone assumes "voodoo" is "dark and spoopy zombie magic". Palo is an african diaspora faith like voodoo or santeria and it is heavily maligned in the media. Palo, unfortunately has not had the PR corrections that voodoo or other faiths have had and so remains heavily stigmatized and does not deserve it.

Ill let you do any further research on your own so as not to distract any more from the awesome collection thread weve got going.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what your asking but some examples would be for purification , involving the smoke of the plants, or a simple smudge bundle. Another example would be singing icaros.

are you uhhh... obtaining those icaros in the "traditional" manner? If so, you are way more than a hedge witch. That's some serious shit you're doing.

>>17426216
It really wasnt very /x/ related usually. It was just odd. Two headed calves, weird surgical equipment, unidentified objects that turn out to be diving suits, shit like that.
>>
>>17426222
Yes, yes, and yes. In online forums such as this the term is appropriate.

In the beginning as a neophyte apprentice, I did approx. 3 months of dieta under the direction of a maestro many years ago after college. That is enough for now.

Purification is used to cleanse a persons (or objects) energy and aura. It's one of the first steps taken in many rituals and many traditions and cultures.
