Not the guy who posted it, but I was thinking of doing something similar myself.

No matter how much or how little you believe in the paranormal, rational thought and critical thinking are what the world needs more of, especially these days. If you're completely unskeptical of everything, you'll believe anything, no matter how ridiculous. I think there exists paranormal phenomena worth studying, but you have to weed out the junk to get to the gems.

lol i don't think later Wittgenstein would mind. Still..the way he organizes reality around facts in logical space...it is literally meta-physical. Especially since signs do not actually correspond to objects.

Im not sure if you can learn these from a single book, books that try to teach you how to think usually bullshit you more than anything else. Better to read a shit ton and take a few nuggets of 'truth' from each.

This is a great book for understanding the basis of hermeticism

Well yeah, of course you can't learn everything from a single book, but if a book is good enough, you can learn a lot. I guess it's subjective as to what is "good" or not, though.

>Better to read a shit ton and take a few nuggets of 'truth' from each.

>rational thought and critical thinking are what the world needs more of, especially these days

People who really don't know anything about science always associate the paranormal with "irrational" thinking when scientists tend to exhibit exactly the same biases. You can train a person on logic and the scientific methods all you want, but in the end it's got to do more with their personality and how open they are to entertain new ideas rather than actual knowledge.
I'm an engineer and I see this all the time.
>>
>>17373852
this.

archaeologist/anthropologist here

This absolutist thinking of "paranormal == irrational" "science == rational" is poison, so it works both ways, the soft sciences are even more prone to this bullshit. A rational mind set is a tool, and a practice, not a set of beliefs.
