Since you found it, you have few options (in my opinion).

1). Leave it alone as it is.

2). Bring a grave glass candle and perhaps flowers, (if you have good positive vibes towards that grave),and by look of that grave looks that someone took much effort in making it, so that would mean that person buried there was a good person, perhaps soldier).

3). Contact local historical organisation to find record of it, with such well build grave there is big chance that someone made a written record of it.

4). Of course since there is a cross on it, person was a christian, take pictures and check with local churches.

5). You can gently and with respect try to remove bit of "stuff" from the grave to see if there is a name plaque , but if you do that and touch that grave at that point I would show respect and light candle and put flowers on it, if you are a christian believer say a prayer for the death.

Is that grave located in very remote area ?

It looks to me that the 'horizontal' cross on top of the grave is made out of stone looking at the bottom end of the cross [six o'clock marker], or is it wood ? , OP
The 'vertical' cross looks that is metal.

If that is indeed stone cross (it was cut/carved) that took quite an effort to do it , even if it is made out of wood , that also took time and effort to do it, either way person buried there was very 'special' to those who made that grave for Him, and was or to far to take Him home, or to dangerous ,if that was during war time.
Could be family member of person who made that grave, or high ranking soldier and his soldier comrades made it for Him.

Indeed, now would be interesting to find out who it was.

I've got something similar.

There's these two huge town sized graveyards in my country. They're in close proximity to each other and on one side of a road.
