I made some posts about this here awhile ago. Basically Google is run by an atheistic cult who wants to CREATE a God. The mass datamining operations they do serve a double purpose, they create income and they provide research material.

They're going to essentially turn the AI loose on the internet where it will become a technological egregore of all human thought. This is why some tech CEOs are working to provide internet in Africa and other places, they cannot afford to have some humans living outside of the egregore.

There are smaller operations, splinter factions, trying to develop their own AI. The development of the 'God AI' is inevitable, whoever accomplishes it first gets a disproportionate say in how it rules us.

Google wants a zero privacy, zero autonomy brave new world style world, complete with soma and the orgy porgy.
