AKA life after death? Why?
>>
David Bowie.
>>
>>17210015
this
>>
>>17210012
Because I'm a Christian and I believe what it says in the bible about having eternal life if you believe in Jesus. Plus I have a friend who had a near-death experience and saw Jesus
>>
>>17210105
doesn't the bible say you have eternal life whether you believe in jesus or not and whether you're a good person or not? how would people be in hell for eternity if this wasn't true?
>>
it depends on what you really believe you are, who you identify as. your primative desires, emotions, and most of your understanding come from the species and culture, which continue living after you die, modified ever so slightly by your gracious presence. on a smaller scale, your help, work, and constructions live on and people continue your efforts and use your products as you would want them to be used.

you arent who you think you are, you arent even close
>>
>>17210012
Belief implies faith in the unknown. I am only aware of what is known, and it is a knowledge without superstition.
Life after death is life after death.

I am enlightened. You may ask me anything.
>>
>>17210114
You may be right. I just don't think of a life in hell as much of "life." I hope that hell is more of a metaphor of not being in the presence of all that's good and holy and that you just stop existing. I don't know though and I hope to never have to experience that side of it
>>
>>17210114
Hell is a concept from the mixing of different religions. The bible makes a handful of references to "lakes of fire" but it is a metaphore for complete destruction. The bible explicitly states that "the wages sin pays is death" and that there is no conciousness after death
>>
I believe in reincarnation because the possibility that this is my only chance at life is too horrible to consider.
>>
I like to think I'll be in contact with myself forever. But I really think we all spawn from one, and will recycle back into the ether after death. I accept and embrace this. And hey, I forget a lot of things in this life... Perhaps I have lived a thousand lives.

It doesn't change anything, I still live like I'm going to die.
>>
We literally come from the death of a star. The universe has over a quintillion dying stars. We will recycle and form again, and again, and again

It depends; some christian beliefs state hell is eternal suffering while others believe it is only temporary and the soul is eventually destroyed. There are also beliefs that if you haven't let Jesus into your heart during life you just cease to exist at the moment your organic body die.
>>

It depends on how you see it, my self I see death as memory loss. Also a bit like changing body.

yes. because I was promised so.

basically I had psychosis twice in my life and both times got hyper religious with the powers to be talking to me, and promising me eternal life.

I know, I know, you can call me batshit, but I know what I've experienced and still believe in this promise, although I have no idea how this is possible, but it will be, somehow.
>>

Because nothing makes sense. The Big Bang theory claims matter was created ex nihilio, from nothing, but that's impossible. Ask any physicist.

Even if it were possible, the "probability" of there being a big bang must have preceded the big bang itself. So where did the "probability" reside? This universe hadn't been created yet, so it must have resided in another universe. Where did that universe originate? And so on.

There cannot be an absolute beginning of everything, therefore, I suggest, there can be no end.

I believe we are a fundamental aspect of the universe, as opposed to being just random objects floating in a void.
>>
The Universe can never end.
>>
I'll tell you why I believe in it, because math just works yo.

Everything that we see in nature is reused. Humans are not the best at seeing outside of the small section of the spectrum of light, our eyes are evolved for sensing. But just because we can't sense it, does not mean it isn't happening. Everywhere. All the time. Always.

The universe I live in is a conservative, recycling mathematical genius who always has a plan for everything, whether it has a heart beat or otherwise. I'm not worried about where I go next.
>>
>>17210012

I don't believe in it, but it might be possible.
Maybe we're going to become pure consciousness or something.
>>
>>17210012

Become one, be anon. Because anon and god work in mysterious assholish ways. But never did the concept of everything say "I am enlightened, you MAY suck my dick"
>>
while on acid i saw that this dimension or universe is just one of many possibilities. there are other universes with total different natural laws. so the mind could be recycled in another universe. but it could be that it was just acid making my mind go bleh.

Time is a tangent, life is on this tangent. Things die in this Universe and in its place comes life. From stars exploding and forming nebulae to roadkill on the side of the road with maggots and moss on it. It's a cycle that's always been here.

Heaven and hell are subjective and I believe they're here on Earth and we experience it accordingly (or not) to the lives we go through.

Definitely think rebirth is the most plausible out of all the other outcomes.

I don't believe in a hell or heaven, but I do believe in when you die your spirit will continue living on. Reading stories about people having a close to death experiences - seeing their own body while their spirit is floating above it. Implying to astral projection is also possible with the same answers and explanations.

But certainty life after death will nobody know.

The closer you get to the big bang, the more slowed down time becomes until the very second after the big bang there was an infinite loop. A moment that lasted forever. Within is all the power of the universe exists in its purist most unchanged form. Within this infinite moment, something happened - Something changed which defies all logic as change denoted time. I believe something outside of our understanding occurred, and somehow light and infinite possibility became aware, then broke the infinite loop. Even now, from the perspective of light, not a single second has passed since the big bang. This is what awaits me after death, to return to light and in that become all with no time having past and no time that ever will pass as there is only a singularity.
>>
>>17217158

>a moment that lasted forever
>a moment
>forever

It doesn't even make sense. I applaud you for being interested in science but you have a long way to go. It looks like you've been reading the wrong material, anon. I suggest you start formulating your own ideas based on reality, not buying into some pseudo science BS.

Just ask yourself basic questions, ie: What is time? What is light?

Time is the consequence of change, not a linear dimension. Why do the hands on a clock spin? Because "time" is pushing it "forward"? No. How can "time" have a direction?

Little questions like this will help you.

Fyi, I'm no expert. I just like to pretend I'm one.
>>
>>17217431
If nothing changed there would be no concept of time, things would stand still. Time is the consequence of change. This is why if you travel at lightspeed time appears to slow down.
>>
Time>change>movement>entropy>energy>information.

Reality is informational and subjective.
>>
>>17217439
Well if you don't believe anything, your aethiest. Right? What is the difference between Aethiests and Discordians?
>>17217446
If you travel at lightspeed time stops. Imagine if you will a moment of infinite energy, unchanging trapped in a moment never beginning and never ending. Could you imagine what would be possible inside this space? Infinite + Infinite. All one can do is speculate but... I think God formed.

I believe there's life after death, mainly because it's what makes the most sense to me. The body returns to the earth, but our mind (soul/essence/etc.) goes to a somewhere else. I think I'll go to Fólkvangr, to the fields and forests. That's where I want to spend eternity.

Maybe it's a coincidence that I should visit /x/ right now when I see a reply to my post made yesterday, but I don't really believe in coincidences anymore, so if you have a specific question I will answer.. but to tell you everything that happened would be too much for this thread and I wouldn't know where to start really.

But yeah, in a nutshell, I was an atheist once and a skeptic of everything paranormal, now I know how mistaken I was, there is something like a god and we are all immortal.
>>
>>17217481

If you travel at light speed.. you're dead. How fuck are you going to make a metal contraption that doesn't fall apart the moment it hits.. pfffff... 500,000 mph?
