Hey /x/, I'm not too experienced on this board but I just had some weird shit happen and I'm hoping someone here can either debunk or identify my problem. I just got back home from walking my dog, my usual route being down to a schoolyard down my street. Both my house and the school are in a wooded area, not much activity but not exactly deep in the woods either. The school generally keeps some lights on and has a few solar powered streetlights, since no one stays in/at the building past ~7. As I was walking around the building (pretty small, takes around 5 minutes to circle it completely and another 5 to get back home), this smoke starting rolling in from the woods. The smoke was very thick and acted almost like a fog, and smelled nothing like a fire. I skirted around the outside of the parking lot to see if I could see any light source or fire, etc. but it's pitch black in the woods. I didn't investigate at all because I'm not fucking around alone in the woods to check out some weird shit, so I turned around and started walking back home. I was only a little unnerved at this point, but then there was a very loud noise coming from my 7 o'clock, towards the other side of the building, almost a wail combined with screeching tires. I fucking ran home, I know there were no cars because I know that building like the back of my hand and everything was cleared out. I'm sitting basically down the street from this, I've closed my doors/windows and locked them, I have a knife with me and I'm genuinely frightened, because I live alone and my power has been fluctuating since I got home. I'm writing this on my phone since it's got internal battery and I'll have a draft even if my power goes out again. I would appreciate some fast help, this is the first and only place I thought to go. I feel almost unnaturally on edge, and the smoke made my chest feel very tight if these details provide any insight. Am I just being paranoid, /x/?

Not just yet, my dog did pull my bike over though right as we were leaving my driveway. Power is back in my house, but I think my phone and ankle are broken. Holding my dog tight to keep him from barking, sitting in the upstairs bathroom again. I have my laptop plugged in but I feel like I'm not alone. There are golden rules in nature, true predators don't use scare tactics with their prey, they don't need to weaken you. They'll take you all at once and you'll never see it coming or they'll be so fast it won't matter.
Anything trying to frighten you is concerned you're a match for it or knows you are or just doesn't want any trouble. If a truly powerful being wanted you it would have you now and you wouldn't be reading this.
Here's another golden rule of nature, never run from anything. You back away slowly at most and never turn your back. Things that run are prey, things that stand their ground are not and that won't guarantee your safety but it will keep you safer than running.
Don't plead or beg or reason or deal, just stare with as little emotion as you can manage. If it moves quick and you jump just go right back to staring, don't ever let a startle devolve into panic.
Power respects power and warrior spirits aid warriors. Choose to fight and you may find yourself a vessel, particularly if you haven't done anything to deserve the wrath of whatever you're facing.
Being willing to sacrifice your dog isn't a great start to that. You should have some faith in your dogs instincts, they're pretty good at telling when something is truly dangerous and when it can be overcome by combined effort or intimidated.
My grandfather was a Celtic druid, that's advice more from him than me. I've never even seen anything supernatural. Good luck.
