The Sigil of Baphomet, as refined by Anton LaVey, is not used to "summon" anything. Rather, we believe that one should ally oneself with dark gods and demons rather than attempt to control them. In doing so, we realize that these gods are not without, but within, and exist as teachers, guides and expressions of carnality.
Rather, the Sigil of Baphomet is used in ritual. It is placed above the altar. If one prefers, an inverted cross may be used instead, preferably made from silver. Anything but gold will do.

Isn't the inverted cross an extremely christian symbol? Petrus said he wasn't worthy to be crucified like Jesus, so it was turned upside down? This is my big problem with satanism, it's all just borrowed symbols.
