>>17155731
The Grifter
Under The Skin
It Follows
The Babadook
Banshee Chapter
The Ring (2002)
The Divide
Massively underrated considering how bleak it is.
Semi-related, how come every movie in a horror section on Netflix besides like two have <3 stars? They're not all that horrible are they?
>>17155768
Well that adam sandler flick has 5 Stars. Dont take it seriously
>>17155746
That out?
>>17155843
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3086442/
I don't know if they are doing an English release or anything G but the one I saw was in German or something. That version is out.
>>17155768
I was wondering the same thing, and they're pretty bad. I've seen most of them by now. Netflix doesn't seem to show much interest in the horror genre. I can't blame them though, most new releases are shit.
It depends too much on the viewer
Funny Games. Preferably the US version.
You're welcome.
>>17157145
>US version
I'm pretty sure the US version is missing one of the most gut wrenching scenes from the original.

Watch this movie faggot. It's genuinely scary.
>>17157155
No, it's not.
It's a shot for shot remake by the same director only prosecuted ten years apart.
>>17157183
whoops.
Even the minutes long scene where the son has been shot and they're grieving over him?
>>17157206
Yep. It's all there anon.
>>17157227
That's neat.
A serbian film
Let the right one in. Watch the swedish one with subs over the american one with chloe moretz.
The Nightmare - the one made in 2015, pretty cool docufilm on sleep paralysis. Unless you take it needlessly seriously
Across the River - local pride here, probably the only worthwhile Italian horror movie made in the last 15 years. Unsettling as few other movies, heavy on tension
Livide - French thing about haunted mansions and the like, don't wanna spoil it but has an awesome aesthetic
GVOZDI - Russian trashy gore. That's it. It's fun tho.
Man Behind the Sun / Guinea Pig series - Japanese horrorific sudorealistic fun
Honestly, haven't seen much good horror movies recently so I'm glad I found this thread
some of my recomendations"
>V/H/S a found footage/anthology film with a few short movies from different directors, each a different horror style, although VHS 1 is quite fun VHS 2 is 100 times better
>Babadook has been downvoted by people for being not scary, aka not a creature feature, It's a fantastic psychological thriller exploring deppresion and paranoia
>It Follows, fantastic cinematography and all round a great horror movie.
While we're on the topic, can anyone recommend some good sci-fi horror?
>>17157791
The only one I can call out on being bad was It Follows, watched it with two buddies in theaters and we were just laughing the entire time through it.
As above so below
>>17155768
Also in IMDB they all have low ratings.
>>17157924
Saw it like three days ago. Not so scary, but it is a really good movie since it really fucks your mind up.
Are you guys serious that you think It follows is good or is this just a meme?
>>17157791
vhs 3 was a shitshow, my lord.
>>17155768
People don't like horror movies.
>>17155731
I'm not a fan of Hollywood/US horror, personally. Two films I find unnerving are:
Kairo (2001) - http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0286751
Honogurai mizu no soko kara / Dark Water (2002) - http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0308379
Both films had US remakes as Pulse and Dark Water respectively, but the Japanese originals are far more powerful and unnerving (to hazard sounding like a weebo, but you'll see what I mean). I highly recommend them.
Thirteen Ghosts: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0245674/
Twelve Monkeys: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114746/
Devil: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1314655/
The Quiet Ones: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2235779/
Cube: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123755/
It: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099864/
Stigmata: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0145531/
The conjuring is actually good.

>>17158130

The Tunnel (australian)
Dyatlov Pass Incident
The Banshee Chapter
some lesser known found footage ones.
>>17158170

Is it true that asian horror movies (specially japanese) are the best?
Has anyone seen Let The Right One In?
Not uber scary but scary enough to watch with a chick and not have her freak out. Cool movie.
Oh. The Swedish (?) version... not the American one.
>>17157232
Scary and unsettling?
More like sexy and raunchy ;^)
Martyrs was fairly solid.
Extremely graphic but if you browse 4chan youll be fine.
>>17158273
You dirty bugger.
I didn't think much of it the first time I watched it, I'd already heard about the "story arch", so was expecting the obvious.
I recently watched it again, and was actually impressed with the film. The suspense and mystery was first class, and the horror was.. true horror.
I recommend it for anyone that hasn't seen it and likes foreign films.
lake mungo is by far the scariest and best film i have ever seen
just thinking about it makes me want to cry
other horror recommendations:
trollhunter, i sell the dead, tombs of the blind dead, return of the living dead, the signal [2007], what we do in the shadows, creep, banshee chapter, creepshow 1 & 2, the battery, rosemary's baby
more thriller but i got sucked into it
In Their Sleep (2010)
overall pretty creepy
Livid (2011)
Never seen a shittier horror movie than babadook.
Man, was that a shitty movie. I wish I could turn back time and save me the pain
>>17158077
>Japanese
Into the trash it goes
>>17157180
Seconding this, loved it.
>>17157145
US Version fucking sucks. It's the watered-down, nowhere nearly as fucked-up version.
>You're welcome
You didn't do any of us any favors, cocksucker. You and your shitty recommendation can fuck off.
>>17157227
Stop lying, faggot.
>>17158077
Why do they need 5 words to say dark water?
or is that just a general translation?
Spoorloos, aka The Vanishing
>>17159950

>>17160232

Cigarette Burns
>>17155746
> -10/10 Immoral german kids
Never watch this movie
>>17158136
I remember when the first ads for it started they taped audience reactions to the trailer in theaters. People were all about it and excited and then it said m night and they started booing.
I like movies with twists, he's not the best but his stuff is watchable. I remember before signs came out I watched some mock documentary about him and it tried to make him all spooky.
Resolution
Fantastic movie. Not scary, but more like meta-horror.
>>17155764

>>17157394
