Ghost Hound has some nice scientific and philosphical views, coupled with your everyday ghosts and some mystery.

Not really /x/, but I would recommend Lain as well.

If you want a more action focused one with the ccult as background story, try Index. It has Crowley as the main villain, (or big good?)

Also, Ghost Stories english dub is /x/ in it's purest form.

Gyo is the only Junji Ito anime adaptation. All of his manga are good, though. There isn't a Mahou Tsukai no Yome anime, and the Rosario+Vampire anime is shit. The manga is decent, though.
