The 'blank' spaces on some of the pages are treated with a material that only shows up if you soak the page in urine. Truly scary stuff then shows up.

I own that leatherbound edition, it's right next to me at this moment. Nah the necronomicon aint real, the simon one is a fun read, got that too, but it ain't serious. Lovecraftian occult isn't really meme occult but it's on the edge, it's just silly fun.

The Necronomicon isn't real. But consider: Aleister Crowley fucked Lovecraft's ex-wife for a while before she and HP met. So it's theorized that the Necronomicon *might* be indirectly inspired by a real book that Crowley might have told Sonia Greene about. Maybe Sonia told Howard about some of the occult stuff she and Aleister used to talk about, and HP's paranoid imagination ran with it.

Does that mean anything significant? Probably not, but still interesting to think about.
