Chaos magic is more related to psychology on practical terms. Sure you can interpret the whole sigil thing as you want, but in my opinion it's closer to a viral-psychology trick.

Also, there are other little known aspects like curses (wich are based on a method similar to an intrusive """"cold reading/PNL"""" with its focus on breaking a belief system), and other practices like controlled dissociations.

As you can see, chaos magic is settled on the practical side, what i mentioned before are some practices i've only seen within the "chaos magic community" but chaos magic encourages the practitioners to take information and foundations from other currents in order to improve your own style, so you can't fully label chaos magic.

Building off the idea of 'psychological trick,' most of life is a psychological process. There's an old saying that 'the eyes don't see, the mind sees.' Each person creates the world that they experience. In using magic one directs how one's mind influences and creates the world around them, leading to outcomes which can be very substantial and often quite mindbending, up to the point where the mechanisms behind how intent became result are a mystery.

Although, I've never performed or witnessed magic that truly defied a physical law. Plenty that defied rational explanation beyond extreme coincided, but ya I've yet to throw any fireballs.

I only bring all this up because a lot of times when people see magic described as psychological they assume it's nothing more than fancy self-therapy, and so lacks any immediate, practical potential or deeper mystery.

And I also agree about not being able to really label what chaos magic is. It's a bit of a catch-all phrase.
