thats about it. DeathNote and Evangelion are overrated, and the long running shonen anime like DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Fairy Tail are the worst things I have ever seen.

every anime on my list is over in 26 episodes, except FMA which goes to like 60. dont ever watch an anime with more than 50-60 episodes

I remember thinking the animation was really impressive in Akira, and the majority of the series I've watched since then (NGE, lain, AOT, Mushi-shi, Puella Magi) have disappointed me in that department. Any recommendations for series with really beautiful artwork and themes a little deeper than "people fighting"?
