how can i solve this step-by-step?
Thanks in advance
Why are you asking 4chan...
Use order of operations
It would be pain to type every step here.
Try squaring the fraction and taking root of it after some transforming. Everything there is positive so no worry.
For the 2nd term, try to rewrite radicand as (a+b)^2 so the square will cancel out the root.
I might made a mistake but the result isn't pleasant looking.

What, are you in eighth grade or something? Underage report and sage.

The first step is correct, if you take the root of the squared fraction you can simplify it in a few steps to sqrt(2).
In the second step chose 3 - 2sqrt(2) = (a + b sqrt(2))^2 = a^2 +2b^2 +2ab sqrt(2) and we can pick a=-1 b=1 which means that the right part simplifies to sqrt(2) - 1.
The answer is then sqrt(2) - (sqrt(2)-1) = 1 as >>77950 said.
