Try stalker and dark messiah.

Yes they are both old, but you will have lots of fun with a bit of patience.

Stalker requires some almost obligatory modding, but that is rather easy. The loading screens are the biggest issue I would say. Then there is also mods for fallout 3, such as the reborn mod.

Dark messiah is old and with a story worthy of being a typical cheesy hollywood film. The combat mechanics are core and are quite fun.

There is also the elder scrolls series which I would mainly recommend oblivion, and not so much skyrim.

If you use a pc I would recommend viewing if something on the sale fits this preference; I know stalker is there.

It's basically what Witcher devs grew up on. And in a way a spiritual predecessor of Dark Souls.

And there's hardly anything in existence that can match its atmosphere.
