Hey /wsr/
I need help understanding how I would go about solving these 2 math problems

2nd one isn't that bad. When is it due?
in 26 hours

I'll try the bottom one, I have no idea what the top one is doing.

In the second problem you have a third equation, since the sum of the elements is equal to 1 translates to
x + y + z = 1 (3)
(3) and (2) give
2x = 4
x = 2
(1) gives
2 x + 3 y = 0
3y = - 4
y = -4/3
(2) gives
x - y - z = 3
2 + 4/3 - z = 3
z = 1/3

Oh yeah, of course.
That was quite easy then :P
Thanks

Ax = 0 implies
x+ay=0
bx+y=0
parametric equation for the line is (8t,-5t)
so
8t-5at=0
8bt-5t=0
then a=8/5 b=5/8

Dammit, I was on z when I saw this.
I tried putting it in a matrix and putting it in row-reduced echelon form, but failed at what should've been a simple task, sorry. Plugging this into a calculator or matlab-like software would solve it for you, though it seems it has already been solved.
