c) I punched f(x) into Python and just started guessing. There are smarter ways to get an answer (Newton's method), but I got lucky and found it somewhere between 3 and 4. You know this is the right answer because by definition, if f_inverse(28.875) = this number, then f(this number) = 28.875 (which it does, precisely).

I don't use Mathematica, but this seems pretty easy to graph. The shape is obviously parabolic, so you're just drawing a bowl + 2 lines?

you need to solve x^3 - 4x = 28.875

will get you 3.5 as solution, and you can prove that this is correct by calculating f(3.5) = 28.875
