Hello, /wsr/, tech novice here. Can somebody tell me what should be plugged in here to connect it to my monitor? What kind of adapter or cable would fit in here? I have one above it with a horizontal slot and 4 squares, but what I use for that does not fit. Please help me.

What am I looking at here? What is the device?
>I don't know
Well at least take a picture of the whole thing too.

This connector is called DVI. A female one.
Both your monitor and your graphics card should have one of these female ones.
You plug in one of pic related, which has two male connectors.
Oh, and if your monitor does not support DVI, you could use a regular VGA cable and a DVI to VGA adapter. Most monitors or graphics cards have these as extras, or you can buy one for like $2 off ebay.
The image quality is worse than using native DVI or adaptered HDMI though. Native DVI is for most purposes equivalent to HDMI without sound.

It's clearly not DVI-I, as you can see by looking at it and the picture you posted.

No he can't, because it's DVI-D and doesn't have any analogue pins to convert.
Look, here they are not existing.

>never really caught on
It got a new connector and had its name changed to "HDMI".
I hear HDMI is quite popular.

I fucked up, I'm sorry, I was just trying to help

Oh shit, didn't look at it carefully enough. You are right.
OP should use a normal DVI-D if possible.
Thank you everybody

Well everyone's talking about how unpopular DVI is, so is it that surprising not to recognize it?

it just means that OP is an underaged newfag that doesn't recognize standard tech from 10 years ago.

Fuck you asshole. Asking the OP to take a better picture is simply that. Enjoy being elitist over a fucking DVI socket.
