Just finished this, what next?
What I loved... bebop, full metal, Afro samurai, yu yu hakusho, berserk of course and now Parasyte. Inuyasha was ok too.
What I couldn't get into... Bleach, Naruto, and a few others I can't think of now.

Sounds like you're looking for something with a serious tone, but not something that takes itself too seriously and comes across as corny.
I recommend Last Exile

Good taste anon.
If you want something with gore like in Parasyte and Berserk, go for Hellsing Ultimate or Claymore. Both are relatively short
If you want something longer, from the author of Yu Yu Hakusho, there's Hunter x Hunter. Watch the 2011 version.
For more gritty action, you should consider Darker than Black, Black Lagoon and Fate/zero.
Unless you're willing to branch out to other genres. In that case you might want to check out sci-fi with Psycho-Pass or Steins;Gate, thrillers with Death Note or Code Geass, or mecha with TTGL/NGE.
Also if you're biased against magical girls, you should definitely watch Madoka Magica. Do not google anything about that show, watch it blindly.
For a general genre snapshot for beginners try pic related.
