Anime like Golden Boy?

Have you seen Cromartie High School?

Onizuka has similarities where main guy alternates between silly perverted clown and coolest guy ever. (Sexual themes are downplayed in anime, manga is lewder.)

Maybe Gintama too with a same thing to a lesser extent (and mostly not lewd).

Yeah, goldenboy is a real classic. Great stuff. I liked School Rumble and GTO too, but there's nothing that's quite like Golden Boy. Maybe Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu comes pretty close considering the great action sequences. But the tone is still different, plus you'd need to watch the first season of FMP to get on board.

Not on target nor even close, but as I liked Golden Boy, I also liked Mad Bull 34. I guess it's that old skool vibe and quirky comedy in both that tickled me.

There is this 40 minute OVA that some like to claim is superior. Trash Boy?
