polynomial division, your root is already given. PND is like written division, just to decide your factor you only use the left side of the (x + a) bracket, you have x there, the first factor of your original polynomial is x^3, what do you have to multiply the x with to get that? That is the first factor of your degree-decreased polynomial-> x^2, now multiply the whole bracket by this and subtract it from the first factor of your original polynomial -> x^3 - (x^3 + 3 x^2) = -3 x^2, -x^2 - 3 x^2 = -4 x^2, now repeat the process, what do you have to multpliy the left side of the bracket(x) with to get this? -> -4 x
(x+3)(-4x)= -4x^2 - 12x,
-4x^2 - -(4x^2 + 12x) = -12x -->-17x - -12x = -5x
Now repeat it and so on.
The result is a quadratic polynomial, use the solution formula for those (x1,2 = (-b+-sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/2a), this will give you two more roots, these togeher with the given root of -3 then give you your linear factors.
