what is the best internet browser?
lynx
There's probably not one right answer, but a lot of heated opinions and personal preferences.
While some people will swear by Opera or some obscure forks of Firefox or Chrome, for simplicity's sake let's stick to the reasonable mainstream alternatives for Windows: Firefox and Chrome.
Usability: Both are very customizable with add-ons. I like tinkering with my browser and prefer Firefox, but I believe Chrome offers the better experience out-of-the-box.
Resources: As far as I know Chrome is less of a resource hog than Firefox.
Features: Both were pretty swift in implementing HTML5 and other newer features. Chrome is probably a little bit faster and more comprehensive. Firefox can take a long while until some dev gets around to low-priority features.
Security: Chrome has amazing sandboxing, but pretty much all high-security browsers (like pre-configured TOR browsers) are based on Firefox, because Chrome is a Google botnet and cannot properly proxy DNS requests.
Apart from my personal preference (Firefox for life!) and lack of in-depth experience with Chrome, I think a serious answer would be: Try both and use the one you like better.

Get Firefox, a Chrome fork with the Google shit removed (Chromium variant) and Opera and see which you like best.

I use both Firefox and Chrome for different things. Check out what kind of add-ons and customization suits your needs.
Allow me to hijack this thread for a question: what are your opinions on Brave and Edge respectively?

Remember to disable the addon blacklist in about:config since moonchild refuses to remove addons he dislikes from it. Other than that it's a pretty decent browser, especially if you liked the older firefox look and don't mind missing out on some addons.

Tried Edge, didn't like it. Too minimalistic and chrome-like for my tastes.
I haven't used Brave enough to give a verdict on it, sorry.
