Using an HP Probook 4530s. I have my external speakers plugged in to the headphone port on the front of my laptop. When in a Skype call, everything not the Skype call comes out on the laptop speakers. Help, please.

Uninstall Skype.

Thanks for the bump.
Windows has sound settings for normal and communication devices. Start a skype call, right click on your speaker in the taskbar and go to "playback devices" or "sounds and recording" or whatever you have for your windows version. Make sure you're on the playback tab. Set your headphones to be the default device.

It does not allow me to set up the headphones as the default device. Only the "default communications device." Even when I disable Speakers / HP it does not allow me to do so. I can set Speakers / HP to default communications device, which seemingly opens up the headphones to being called default device because it changes to "Ready." But still no.
Update your sound drivers

Hmm gonna try deleting my IDT sound drivers and rebooting. Will report back.
Did not work. Upon logging it started installing device drivers, but it's still the same shit. I individually routed windows media player to my headphones, however. How would I do that for Chrome, and other things?

Theres probably a setting in skype that selects what output device to use, and use that to select only use the headphones. i never used skype but thats pretty common in VoIP applications.

Nono, Skype already comes out through my headphones. But when I'm in a Skype call, everything else comes out through the laptop speakers.
Can your headphones be used for audio when skype is not in use? If so, then >>368528

And reinstall it?

Nope. Get a new chat client and migrate your human acquaintances. Discord?

Not too much of an option. Thank you all.
