OP, if degaussing it doesn't work, your tube is fucked.
There's no way to realign the shadow mask, short of breaking the vacuum or just randomly wailing on it with a magnet.

some CRT monitors can be calibrated. it's magnets and electricity, I don't think it was that much more expensive to put some extra controls on there.
