I need to activate Windows 7 Home Basic. I have the original CD but the key for it is already in use on another machine.

I would just use Daz loader to just activate it,but you can also just call microsoft and explain the situation and if they're feeling nice they will help you.

That's exactly the one I went for, but it didn't work for me. Also it says it might be a HDD issue, as it shows "Unsupported partition table" when I try to run it.

format your drive and try again. Maybe download a different ISO. Also check the md5/sha hashes to make sure you have the complete file
