Hello /wsr/
So I've been trying to install hostapd to be able to run a WEP hotspot so I can play on the DS online with Wiimmfi, however, for some reason whenever I try and install it through apt-get, I get an error telling me that what I'm trying to install does not exist. Literally every guide I could find always tells me to use "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install hostapd". And it always tells me hostapd doesn't exist. Any suggestions? Thanks.

APT isn't magic*, all it does is fetch software you ask for off of sites you've told it.
If the sites don't have the software, there's no way for it to produce it for you.

apt basically pulls software from ubuntu's database or "repositories". ubuntus repos are limited, and mostly has software that's open source. you could google how to install the program, sometimes you can add special repos. google "hostapd ubuntu" and see what comes up.
also, apt-get is old now, people are urged to use apt instead. (sudo apt instead of sudo apt-get)

If apt(-get) cant find something that usually means its not in that distros repos, just search for the program and deb file like 'hostapd deb file' and download the right version for your distro, and just use: sudo dpkg -i packageName.deb to install it.

Which distribution are you using? Ubuntu, Debian, Mint?
Try running apt-cache search hostapd to find packages that have hostapd in their name or description; perhaps it just has a different name on your system.
Also, you may want to see whether apt-get is configured the way it should be. Check /etc/apt/sources.list.
