Movies, my google fu failed me

I'm trying to find the names of 2 movies that i watched more ten years ago.

The first one was an environmentalist movie about a time when the ozone layer of the sun is so weakend that humanity can't live in the sun; the main character is at one point sentenced to being bound to a pillar and to be tortured by the sun, and that's when they figure out that he is immune to it (i'm not sure but i think the reasoning was genetic engineering by his parents)
I also only vaguely remember something about a grov or a lake, and i think one of the protags hippie parents mindmelds with plants or something at that point, i kinda have that picture of his fathers face in front of some vines together with some earliest cg 2d sparkle effects and bloom(or vaseline on the camera lense)
By the picture quality i remember it's from the 80's.

The second movie falls into the deadly videogame catergory. However, it is not stay alive, brainscan or how to make a monster.
It's less about an actual 3d game played on a screen and more iirc a game that gives instructions for its players to do in the real world, and if you don't follow, you are killed.
I think it was set in a college or highschool, or at least a school environment where mid-20s play teenagers.
The activities include theft, vandalism, murder and at one point having a sidecharacter screw the protag.
The big plot twist was that it was a game by the evil and the protag is one of his sons - and he can choose at the end of the movie if he wants to come to hell and take his rightful place or to stay with humans but be found be the police and treated as an insane criminal until his death.
It's very likely a movie from the 00's.
